According to Dr. Stefanski, only one positive confirmed case per person. Not sure if it's still happening and being removed later or what.

IDK why but I find it hard to believe that someone cross references these ...

Any idea if rate is really geared towards younger people now or if we just were not testing young healthy people early in virus?

A lot of the latter, some of the former. That first wave picked off a lot of the low hanging fruit (sorry for the bluntness).

Yep. Older infections are increasing as are hospitalizations. Just not at near the same rate as younger.

We have no idea where we were with spread when the first case of covid was confirmed. If you were under 30 getting a covid test was damn near impossible early in the first spike.

I thought they changed that??

From the CDC: Recommendation: For persons recovered from COVID-19 illness, CDC recommends that isolation be maintained for at least 10 days after illness onset and at least 3 days (72 hours) after recovery. Illness onset is defined as the date symptoms begin. Recovery is defined as resolution of fever without the use of fever-reducing medications with progressive improvement or resolution of other symptoms. Ideally, isolation should be maintained for this full period to the extent that it is practicable under rapidly changing circumstances. While this strategy can apply to most recovered persons, either a test-based strategy (if feasible) or a symptom-based strategy with more stringent requirements may be used for recovered persons for whom there is low tolerance for post-recovery SARS-CoV-2 shedding and infectious risk because they are:

Thats for confirmed positive cases. My comment was on direct exposures - you have close contact with a confirmed positive:

CDC Exposure Guidelines

CDC actually still recommends a 14 day isolation period. However, given how unrealistic that is, I know some docs are doing a 5-7 day isolation period plus a negative test at 5-7 days in order to return to work.

While this may be true, if you’re asymptotic it’s harder than you would think to actually get a test.

I got a test last week while asymptomatic. I had confirmed contact with someone who tested positive though.

Test was no big deal and it came back negative two days later.

Curious, how soon after contact did you get tested?

6 days. I had very brief contact on Thursday and was notified the following Wednesday morning. Called the clinic and they had me come right then. Tested me in the parking lot. Had the results Friday.

Did they ask how long it had been? I had a few people denied since the virus hadn't had enough time to build up enough for a test to read.

Not sure if that excuse holds water.

Meh. You could test positive within 24 hours. Everything in life is a bell curve. For COVID, the vast majority, if infected will test positive in 5-7 days after exposure with the curve tailing out thereafter.

Yea they want to be at least 5 days out from exposure. It was either 4 or 5 days. Don’t remember exactly

Yeah, thats why I would assume they were wanting a few days before testing, incubation period.

Some of the guys were exposed on Wednesday and trying to get a test Thursday morning.

Lafayette just canceled all of the Cajundome graduations that were supposed to happen at the end of this week.

Cosmo, I hope that you see this. I posted about the CDC recommendations and returning to work.

The City of Abbeville (where I live) is actually where I saw this posted and it's from the LDH; take it for what it's worth.

"Due to a shortage of availability of COVID-19 tests, LA Department of Health requests that businesses allow employees who have tested positive and followed all protocol return to work without retesting. This policy applies to any employee who has tested positive and subsequently quarantined for 14 days, has not had fever for 72 hours and is no longer symptomatic. Adjusting this policy will help with testing shortages.

We also ask that everyone do their part and be a good neighbor by masking up when in public."

There are zero tests in the Lake Charles area. I’ve called around.

I’ve been feeling under the weather with symptoms and quarantined in my room since yesterday. Won’t test until Thursday.

Personally, I'm just glad that there isn't an alcohol shortage.
