While I am sure people will disagree, for me, it is Harrahs New Orleans.

We're not really into the buffets. Steak, fish, and a bottle of wine is more our style.

Golden Nugget in lake Charles is the nicest casino but it’s in lake Charles so there’s nothing else to do. Harrahs in New Orleans has more options outside the casino

Harrah’s is good just for the fact your in New Orleans. Lot of things to do besides gambling. I never win at Harrah’s, I don’t gamble much there.

L’auberge in Baton Rouge is where we usually go. We’re always treated well. Rooms are nice.

Never been, but I hear the Golden Nugget and L’auberge in Lake Charles are both nice places to go.

Why Louisiana?

Why not just go to Mississippi?

How old are you and the wife?

Margaritaville in Bossier is next door to Bass Pro Shop and the Boardwalk....if you are looking for a laid back weekend of a little gambling and shopping.

Paragon Casino in Marksville. They have a cool alligator habitat thingy in the atrium area of the hotel lobby. They have a movie theater. They have concerts. The buffet is pretty good, but not great. But I will say they have the best redneck style desserts. Not your typical fancy, tasteless Vegas style desserts. It's actually good. You know rice krispy treats? Well, they have oreo cookie treats. It's crushed up oreo cookies in that marshmallow stuff. It's fantastic. They have a 50's style diner that's pretty popular. They have a steakhouse and a sports bar. Also, the gaming area is pretty big. Frankly I prefer their casino over L'auberge in Baton Rouge. L'auberge is much nicer, but I find it more relaxing and casual. And depending on where you are starting, the drive is fairly relaxing.

L’auberge or Golden Nugget in Lake Charles if you’re coming from Houston via I-10.

El Dorado, Margaritaville or Sam’s town in Shreveport if coming from DFW via I-20.

If you wanna drive a little further, Coushatta in Kinder, LA is another good one. It’s in Kinder, LA not Coushatta, LA. Big difference haha

IMO, there’s no reason to go further than Lake Charles for a casino resort. They’ve got everything you’d need right there over the border. GN is crazy nice.
