Makes very sense

Their Democrat mayor cut $17million from the fire department

Their Democrat governor said that they are not allowed to do control burns and vegetation maintenance around power lines

Their Democrat governor blocked fresh water because he was worried about a little fish and the environment

100% this was caused by Democrat NON leadership.

The majority of the counties are conservative. They can't help that they are ruled by densely populated metro areas.
i've watched the same thing here. nashville used to vote red but now its solid blue and getting worse every election. Nashville went for Kamala like 61 - 39.

its only a matter of time.

Yea, none of what I mentioned would ever help contain the fire faster. None of it

I don’t think this will be likely on the source of fire (but don’t know if it’s even known), but as far as the response to the fires this could possibly become true due to political leadership as the fire chief was mainly focused on DEI on top of her hiring being promoted as the first openly female alphabet hire, the mayor has stayed out of the country & cut funding to firefighters, and the long ignored water infrastructure issues are behind the water shortages hampering the response.

That’s before you get to elected state officials and their policies & hires.

Yea, having fire hydrants that actually work would not help at all

Having an extra $17 for more firefighters and technology would not have helped one bit.

Nah, you’re right.

I just feel like, and I work in the power industry and deal with PG&E all the time…they’re not an evil company, but they are hamstrung by environmental law after law after law that prevents them from doing what they need to to minimize or even prevent these types of events.

But they have to deal with the PR disaster and even pay fines…just can’t help but say that when everyone in our industry could have said this was not if but when.

But I should habe more empathy for the people, they didn’t ask for this.

ETA - think Nola historical commission making it impossible to tear down and old decrepit bldg until it collapses on to someone and and kills them…but on a MUCH larger scale.

I'm sure there will be some people in here shortly with some snarky posts because it's the west coast, but that is straight up devastating what they are going through.

Yours was the first post to mention politics, and you have been engaged in political debate in this thread after this as well.

They didn’t fill the reservoirs

They cut $17million from the fire budget

They sent supplies to Ukraine

They fired firefighters for not getting the jab

They didn’t comply with brush clearing

They halted prescribed burns

They let storm water wash out to sea

But yes, this is all caused my “climate change”??

I’ve been to LA a couple of times and have always been fascinated with the city for some reason. The fact that it’s a sprawling metropolitan area with a variety of different communities cobbled together all with unique geographical features. It’s got a unique vibe to it.

You're correct. A smaller more controllable one. That's what you don't get.

It's sad, what is the cause? If it's lightning strike or something, okay, if illegals or homeless starting fires, something else.
