This is an untrue statement. You have people of all professions that at some point are either forced to change their jobs or want a change in pace and/or work.

This guy gets it. Might as well get Fall Protection, Incipient Fire and First Aid/CPR while you're at it. Then let future employer pay for T-2 as that class is very expensive. It amazes me how many people apply to my company without a single usable certification. It's the equivalent of saying hey I have no experience whatsoever but please hire me and by the way you are going to have to pay a few thousand dollars in training course fees if you do indeed decide to hire me before I make your company a dime.

Also amazes me how many people hire into their jobs and get the company to pay for their certs with no experience or working a day in the field before making the company a dime.

Your company do internships for Petes?

Honestly I think that's a reasonable idea to stow away some cash. Go to school for 2 years, be an operator (and 1/2 the courses will go for a 4 year degree), earn 80-120 (not 350). You'll probably get bored with it, but it's a start.
Meanwhile, you can do manual labor for the plants while in school.

Well the problem with that is when you have more work then you have bodies sometimes you don't have a choice. As you know most skilled people in the profession you may be in are usually happy where they work and it takes a big raise or benefit change to to get them to jump so green hands cost less and can be trained your way instead of bringing in any prior bad habits personally if seen it work out both ways but it's rare I hire anyone without some knowledge of what we do. Some companies like mine have in house training for most safety certs so we get to make sure the applicant is going to work out and is not just passed cause we payed the money.
