Do not know any companies over here

Looking at one called greenstreet out of cypress, but am not finding much on them online

Anyone having experience in this neck of the woods would be greatly appreciated

It's the perfect time of year for such a task.

I love these comments that supply no other information. I will go with family friend with 30 years of hvac experience and time in attics

large house down the street has it. the house only has 2 small AC units outside, so it must be doing something good. would hate to have to try and find a roof leak though with it covering rafters and roof decking

My uncle had it done in his house when it was built a few years back, and his attic never gets much warmer than the temperature outside. I was skeptical until I went up there in the middle of summer to check it out, now I am considering it for my home as well. I looked into doing it myself because they sell the kits, but after researching it doesn't save you enough money to be worth it unless it is just a really small job. Check Angie's List in Houston, there are several contractors that are rated well that could give you quotes. I pretty much only get contractors from Angies list now, because you can see their reviews and review their work yourself.

best results from a radiant barrier and it is a lot cheaper than spray foam. A lot cheaper

Thanks, Napoleon. I keep getting conflicting reports on this topic.

Too many variables to throw out that statement. I know people who have had great success with both.

Radiant barrier protects from radiant heat (which is typically the majority of the heat load in attics), Spray Foam protects from convection and conduction. There are drawbacks with each.

Would a radiant barrier help with a tile roof? I've never seen that but I may look into it for this winter.
