Looking for record player reccomendations

Gf wants one for Christmas. Looking to spend 250-350. Anyone know any good ones? I've been reading reviews online and it seems most are about the same just wanted to get some personal experience. Seems I'd have to pay 1200-1500 to get one of the amazing quality ones which ain't happening 
figured this would work better here than the music board but admins if ya feel like you gotta move it so be.

Does she have an amp with a phono stage? Most of the old ones, receivers, had them...most integrated amps of today do night.
