I can imagine it would. If I lost my job I would be damn depressed, for a LONG time!

We have an ad in CL looking for a Production Manager to run our Automated Filling Line. Starting pay is up to 50k depending on experience, and I have yet to get a good resume. Going to put in in The Advocate this weekend. Hopefully will get a few good candidates.

I have a non-compete, but it would be waived if need be. Weird situation.

I didn't get asked one question during the interview. She explained the job duties. Made them seem horrible. I didn't get a good feeling about it at all.

She was trying to eliminate your competition for a job she had earmarked for her pal - you been had.

That's not an interview, just an unpleasant,one-sided conversation. I'd say you made the right call. Good luck.

Have you considered education? As a chemistry teacher, you'd probably have your pick of schools.

I'm not really interested in teaching. Also, my end goal is to work in forensics, so lab experience would be more advantageous to that end.

B2B sales in south LA seems like a hot industry. I've got 10+ years in the industry and there's no doubt if I wanted another job it would be easy to find.
Just being on linkedin I get emails weekly asking for jobs. Most are more for 3-5 years experience or entry-level though.
I love my current job though.

Where are you guys looking? Jobs everywhere here

I think a lot of people don't want to move, but complain that they can't find jobs. I'm white collar and I see plenty of job offerings in my field across the country. If I stuck to Louisiana I'd probably have a slightly difficult time(maybe not even) finding another position in my exact field.

ETA: okay I lied I just checked out of curiosity and there is a position available in my city that is exactly what I do. My point still stands though, if you are willing to move there are tons of opportunities out there.

LOL I apply for crap all across the country. I thought I was a pretty competitive candidate until these past two months.

Reading this thread makes me realize how glad I am that I have been self employed my whole adult life.

I would hate to have to go through the hell that is job searching.
