May have to retire that Smoky the Bear mascot.

I think the area will be fine after 6 months or so
Posted on 11/29/16 at 7:43 pm to Forkbeard3777
Ok, but since you say she's the owner, then what difference would that make?
And I could litigate because after reading the rental agreement there is nothing about an act of God. Only that storms couldn't cause a cancellation. But why the hell would I or she want that? This is so simple. It was a true health concern and every single human being I've talked to agrees with us. I was never even asking for a refund but just to reschedule to a later and safer date.
People on the coast don't steal vacationers money when a hurricane rolls through, deeming the areas a hazard.

I am sure it will bounce back quickly, but I don't think they know the extent yet.

Did she allow you to reschedule? If not, did she or did she not refund your money?

Seems awfully short, no? I assumed it would take at least a year or two for the park to regrow.

No. She said that unless someone else rebooked our dates; we could not reschedule without paying again. And clearly no one booked our dates (two weeks notice) since vacationing amongst wildfires isn't exactly on the top of anyone's lists.
And NO SHE DID NOT refund the money, either. Otherwise I wouldn't be talking about it.

Kathy needs to get kicked down a firey mountain
Posted on 11/29/16 at 7:55 pm to tigerbandpiccolo
That place didn't make it.

Kathy needs a good dose of karma
Posted on 11/29/16 at 7:56 pm to Forkbeard3777
I drove by there. There is nothing spectacular about that view. Literally every other cabin in that area is the same. There is nothing separating Kathy's place from the hundred of other rentable places, aside from her piss poor customer service. People like Kathy are the worst thing about this area.
Posted on 11/29/16 at 7:56 pm to genuineLSUtiger
I know it did, but boy wouldn't that be the ultimate karma?
Despite this lady being ridiculous, I wouldn't wish that kind of destruction on anyone.

Damn woman. You have been bitching about this in at least four threads for too long. Let it go. LOL

You're very right. We wanted to book one of the many other places.. But they were all booked by the time we scheduled.
The awesome part of all this is that we scheduled this vacation due to our August/summer vacation being crapped upon by the flooding. It rained like crazy every single day we were at the beach and then we returned home to our new home and all of our belongings being destroyed by the flood. We thought it would be nice to try a "redo" of a vacation after all that
clearly 2016 has got to go!

Yeah, I'm triggered.
But these locals have way better info than anyone I personally know.

Kathy told me it's a sign from God. You're meant to stay home.
Posted on 11/29/16 at 8:01 pm to TigerOnTheMountain
You know I've alreAdy asked the good Lord what all these terrible signs mean!
Ok sorry to have hijacked. I need a safe space.

I don't care what anyone says, I love Gatlinburg. Sounds like a lot of rebuilding and regrowth will need to take place. Prob at least a few years before it's worth visiting again.
