It is a major shipping port but sadly that has been on the decline. Alot of those ships heading to Tx. The old school maritime attorneys in Nola will talk your ear off about it. But, most people from outside of New Orleans only know of it or come for Mardi Gras and to take a piss on Bourbon Street. Wish it wasn't the case since they leave their trash everywhere.

A lot of that has been trending down since the 90s. Nothing really new.

I always get a chuckle when I pass through the WoodHood at the thought of BorrisMart Sr. going to school at Broadmoor.

I mean look at the crime rates in all surrounding cities after Katrina

This is a load of shite that I’m tired of hearing. Crime was not ‘good’ in any city that New Orleans transplants are blamed for ruining.

I hate to agree with tgrbaitn08 on any level, but New Orleans is a destination city for many reasons.

Baton Rouge is not except for LSU, and that’s ok.

Nobody visits Nola for the Port of South Louisiana. They just use it.

Lol you’re so naive if you think people don’t visit Nola due to its proximity to the GOM and LMR.

You should let the cruise industry in on your business plan

I'm not saying how great they were. I'm saying that those were the predominant shopping areas through the years. Jackson's trajectory is just a little ahead of the BR timeline. It is a look at the demographics.

So you’re saying the only reason people visit New Orleans is because of the French Quarter?

Has nothing else to do with the other aspects and draws that the city offers?

Why does the city have those other things? Some are because of the river, sure. But without the tourism dollars from the FQ, NO would be more similar to BR than most residents want to believe.

As Michael Corleone said: if history teaches us anything, it's that Jackson is BR in 20 years
