Well that’s a dumb fricking question

That’s like asking what would America be without the Mississippi River.

Are you high?

I always get a chuckle when I pass through the WoodHood at the thought of BorrisMart Sr. going to school at Broadmoor

My grandfather is in the Istrouma HS athletics hall of fame. He used to have a big display in the lobby of the school. I saw it when I was a kid but I'm sure his big, tall white arse has been canceled by now

Well, the stats don't lie. Whether or not that was necessarily the direct result of any affirmative intent on behalf of any New Orleans people or not is debatable, they could have been targeted. But when you see documentaries about it and Katrina transplants in Houston gleefully saying things like " Shiiiii you know da murdarate go up when Nawlins in da building" its hard to really tell.

I hate to agree with tgrbaitn08 on any level, but New Orleans is a destination city for many reasons.

Yes we all know this lol its just typical Louisiana rivalry.

I concur, now accepting opinions on what America would in fact look like if there was no Miss. River.

A friend of mine's mother went to Istrouma w/Billy Cannon. He had quite a rep for hellraising in those days. FWIW he intended to go to TXA&M. I won't go into the alleged reason he ended up at LSU.

but sadly that has been on the decline. Alot of those ships heading to Tx.

Well you’re absolutely wrong about that.

Where do you think all the farming and dry cargo that are being shipped to China are coming from? Trump signed a multi billion dollar deal that forces China to spend multi billions to our farmers.

The Mississippi River is booming right now thanks to those deals Trump made.

You have no idea what you’re talking about

But without the tourism dollars from the FQ, NO would be more similar to BR than most residents want to believe.

Take away the French Quarter from NOLA

Then tell me how BR and NOLA are the same?

Where would you build the Superdome and all the hospitals NOLA has?

Where would you put all the Democratics?

What about the port, train line, river, etc?

So you are saying that in the past 50 years a major portion of importation and exportation didn't shift to the port of Houston? Like I said that's why you hear all about so much of the maritime legal work drying up in the city. I've heard countless accounts of that from attorneys who were in that field in the heyday. I'm not saying that the port is nonexistent or in danger of shutting down, I am merely saying that as with much of Louisiana's domestic industry moving to Tx, so has a great deal of the port activity. Same as so many of the international consulates leaving New Orleans and the World Trade building becoming a hotel.

My grandfather was born in 1919 so a good bit older than BC. He grew up at the foot of the old Bridge after moving here from MS and lived to he was almost 100 and completely mentally aware.

That man was a walking, talking history book. WWII, BR history, the Great Depression etc. I wish I could go sit and talk to him for hours tomorrow. Luckily spent much of my first 20 years listening to him
