The wife and myself are in our early fifties, just us and a maltese. Always been intrigued by downsizing and traveling, anyone else ever lived in an RV for long periods of time?

There was a thread here not too long about this. You may be able to search it which might bring some good info.

Beautiful bird but wouldn't it need room to stretch?

I'm almost at 2 years living up in the PNW. In my 20's with a 4 yr old. I plan on sticking out for another year until I move back to FL. Honestly, it's not that hard and you get used to the small space and appreciate the little things a bit more.

we do it. We started out in January and love it. We are staying out for the summer season and a RV resort with full amenities. Our "rent" includes all utilities (elec, water, cable ,internet, a pool, hot tub, hiking trails, dog park, lawn care, etc.

Our neighbors are great. They are not little ole retired people but are people with professional lucrative jobs that require travel. If we get tired of the neighbors or the location, we are free to travel wherever we wish.

It has been an excellent choice for us.

Get a second dog. Much better for dogs to have another around, plus more entertaining for you, to watch them play. Otherwise, living in the RV will be easy, and fun.

There are lots of great groups for people who live full time RVing. The kids we meet love Rving and have an adventurous education as they get to see the actual sites where history happened. They see the majestic beauty of geology, science, geography and other amazing things that the pics in text books could never properly capture.

I have yet to meet a kid who preferred to live in a house and to go to school 8 hours a day. These kids have a spirit of adventure and an experience that is something that creates priceless memories.

We will be doing it as possible. Looking forward to it. Just having a hard time finding the right rv for us. Toy haulers offer more room for a family but not as home like as many others.

Just 30 and hoping I can set up to work remotely to do just that sort of thing. I'd probably get a large 5 fifth wheel though.

I want to do this and would love to hear how its worked out for others. I can pull it off in a couple of years when my youngest graduates high school and heads off to college.

Same age, and if my wife would do it, I would sell my home, quit my job (or do it remotely), and travel.

Was on a cruise a few years ago and met an older couple who were doing this. Had 4 kids spaced out around the country, and would visit them once a quarter for a few days, then travel in between. Sometimes staying in one location for up to 2 months if they liked it.

Had their mail held and sent to them when they landed someplace for a time.

With the internet, you could do all of your banking/bill paying, and possibly work depending on your job.

I would do the 5th wheel thing though, so I could drop the RV and travel around without it.

My sister and BIL are doing this, bought a F250 and a new 5th wheel this year, but most of their trips are local, maybe 2 hours from home for a week and back. I think they will do longer at some point.

Dude...my mother in law has been doing this for the past few years. Her RV was relatively new when she bought it and it is always being repaired. Nothing but a huge dark vortex that sucks all her money.

Not worth it full time IMO.

Just take the money you would spend on it and travel in other ways.

Is it a diesel? What do you think is the worst maintenance on it? Electronic stuff? Engine?

I know cost of ownership is high. Seasonal maintenance is $700 a couple of times a year.
