Thinking about selling home when I retire in 4 years. Actually selling pretty much everything to travel and live in either a large fifth wheel or a class a motorhome. Wife and 2 kids. Do you know of anyone who has done it?

Are they home schooled or something?

I'm not understanding these logistics

If you get a motorhome, you need to tow a vehicle too.

I watch slab city videos on YouTube. That got me watching a few of the rv travelers videos.

If I ever did it, I would do it as a widower or divorcee. No way I could deal with a family in an RV.

I have a crazy aunt that lives with her 2nd husband in nice Class A.

I personally would never consider raising kids that way. But I can't tell you how to raise your kids. For every disadvantage for a kid, there would probably be some advantage to balance things out.

I suggest renting one, packing up the entire family and going out for a 2 week vacation somewhere first.

How old are the kids? I would feel guilty for depriving my kids of lifelong middle school/high school friends by traveling.

Kids will be 10 and 14. Will be home schooled. As far as friends go, they can make friends on the road. Won't be traveling constantly. Will stay in places we like until we are ready to go to the next place. No different than being a military brat.

Get an Airstream. Those kids will learn more travelling America, stealing from truckers and jerking off methheads more than they ever will in public school.

Your kids are going to be the weird as shite ones. Let them have a normal middle/high school life. Don't be selfish.

So "home schooled" in a trailer and no friends.

Sound like 2 well educated, well adjusted adults to be set loose on society...

Your poor kids

Why did you even have them so late in life if you are going to be selfish and deprive them of s normal upbringing?

Don't do that to kids that young. The only things he'll learn is how to empty the shitter and how to smoke crank while giving handies to truckers

You will get tired of it. Do you ever get sick of your family now? Imagine living in 1/4 of the square footage

Sounds awesome with kids. Some people obviously don't like adventure with their kids.

What could be better?

it's very different. i was a military brat and we moved quite a bit. but i would typically know someone at whichever base we moving to from previous AFB's.

but i'm not saying your kids can't be home schooled and be 100% socially adjusted.

it worked out well for my man Cool Hand Billy.

I say that as an RV owner with 2 kids. 4 days is about all I can take.

It's a bad idea. Don't do it. If you don't like living in one place, move. But you can't stay nomadic. You got another 8 years until the youngest is 18. Suck it up so you don't have to spend your last few years on the planet thinking about how bad you fricked them up by constantly pulling up stakes.

I remember hearing about that hillbilly family who lived in a car and got into a deadly brawl with cops in a Walmart parking lot a while back. I'd be willing to bet this is how that family started out.
