Living amongst Bama and Auburn fans and that god awful redneck accent is a non-starter for me personally.

I love that area, it's very nice.

Did you know:
The furtherest East of St Bernard Parish’s barrier islands are only 29 miles away from Alabama

I spent 6 years living among Longhorn and Aggy people, with their texas accent... I'm not sure that is better or worse.

Fairhope native here. I get it
I was in east L.A. this past weekend. Specifically in the Fairhope area.
The people were very nice, place was clean, and found some pretty good restaurants downtown too. If the bad weather hadn't come through right after lunch, the ladies in the group wanted to do some shopping, but thankfully the rain and wind put an end to that idea.
It's a nice looking area.

I learned that a few months ago when some guy was on the news saying he thinks there is an underwater city in that area.

I takes over two hours to get from the North end of Baldwin County to the "T" in Gulf Shores where 59 ends in to the Beach road.
No. That isnt true. One hour tops unless you are in 4th of July traffic. Take beach Express and you can get there in 40 mins on most days. I drive it all the time. Weekends during summer season are not that bad until you get into OB or GS

This is run terribly. They should have made it 4 lanes and for God sake - make the price a round number.
I think they change it around. One day I believe I saw 4 southbond and 2 northbound, and next day it was 3 each way. There's a lane on the far east side that looks like it was added on later.
I wonder how many people pay cash such that a non-round price makes a difference.

silk purse, pig’s ear, Gulf Shores/OB/L.A. is a very trashy, disgusting place

It's terrible. You don't want to live here. We're full, frick off

Madison and Limestone county area is probably the fastest growing area in AL.

It isn't. It's Baldwin county

The question is what took Baldwin County that long to sell Orange Beach and Gulf Shores? That place should have been a hot destination for a long time.
The eastern shore has been a hot destination for a few decades now, mostly people escaping Mobile for better schools. GS and OB seem to ebb and flow around major hurricanes and/or the housing market. I know lots of people that got great deals on places there in the 2008-2009 market crash.
You couldn’t pay me to live down there. Just not my type of place, culturally or climate.

Yes. From Little River Baptist Church at the crossroad of Hwy 1 & Hwy 59, that is the tip top of Baldwin County. Google Map that down to The Hangout in Gulf Shores...
Now if you just mean from just I-10 down to the beach, yeah you can make it quickly on the Beach Expressway.

Take a drive up I-65 to I-565 and check it out. The cities of Madison, Huntsville, Athens and Decatur are growing together. It’s crazy. All the Amazons, Toyota, Polaris, defense / hi tech companies, FBI, NASA on Redstone Arsenal with the possibility of Space Force coming (that’s iffy though). The area is exploding. Real estate is crazy due to low inventory of homes and apartments. They are building as fast as possible. Plus…. the traffic sucks now. So many northern folks moving in.

Just looked at google maps. 87 miles and 1 hr 45 min in current traffic.
Yeah, I didn't realize Baldwin Co went that far north.
