Salad for dinner? Froget about it.

A Wisconsin family was making dinner recently when one member noticed a live frog wriggling inside a sealed box of Simple Truth organic lettuce blend, purchased from a local Pick 'N Save grocery store.

“Mom, why is there a frog in the salad?” is what Karlie Allen told ABC7 NY she heard her brother ask their mother. Hoping he was kidding, Allen walked over and looked into the package, where she saw the amphibian for herself.

"I'm thinking… how did that get in there? And two, that is absolutely disgusting," she said.

Allen recorded the frog moving through the box of lettuce and posted it on Twitter, writing, “bon appetit! nothin like salad with a side of live frog @SimpleTruth4U.”

According to ABC7 NY, the Allen family was planning to return the box of salad with the frog inside to Pick 'N Save the following day, but the frog was able to escape overnight.

Simple Truth apologized to Allen on Twitter writing, “Hey Karlie, Yikes! We are so sorry that you discovered a live frog in the Simple Truth product.”

Pick 'N Save shared the following statement with the news station: "These situations happen from time to time when organic products are involved.

USDA Certified Organic items must be free of synthetic additives and certain pesticides. Although rare, from time to time we do see insects and other small animals such as frogs make it through packaging with fresh produce items. In this instance, the customer returned the organic lettuce for an even exchange."

She must think vegetables are grown in a clean, sterile environment.

They had this on a recent episode of Mysteries at the museum. The lady swallowed a live frog, then went out in public and puked it back up a few moments later and it was still alive.

It would seem the thing was able to get back out the same way it got in there.
