I applaud your honesty. Most people would lie about making 40K like it's some kinda of stigma or something to make an honest living without a college degree.

bro, owning a 50" flat screen is out of place on that list
As well as the BMW.
Do men really want one of those?

I make a little over 30k a year and I'm doing fine.

Thank you. I grew up pretty poor and in Opelousas, so many people I know at my age are making substantially less than me.. I feel like I do pretty well for someone my age, particularly someone who didn't attend a university.

I don't get it.
I really don't understand if you're telling me that most men want a BMW or that you're agreeing with me.
I have never seen the allure of that vehicle, nor, have I had many men point out a BMW to me and tell me that they want one.
Obviously everyone has a different opinion on cars, I just see mostly 30-40 year old women with them.

I may need to reconsider having you be my lawyer if you're not loaded

If you are a confident guy, rent a ghetto apartment. My brother does this, and he lives like a millionaire. His car is paid off and he spends so little on rent, that he literally can't spend all of his money. He is the most compulsive spender I know, and he puts away tons a month into savings.
Would totally do this if I was a male.
Hell, I am currently on the apartment hunt and I've been checking out some real hippie shacks.

i went through a lot of my money building myself up last year after going out on my own. freedom and scruples make earning a quick buck difficult, bro

Graduating next month, and will be making around 55,000 starting right out of school. Anybody been in this situation and would care to share how they did coming out of school?
That is literally my salary right now. I am able to do mostly anything I want. It's not a bad starting salary at all, and you're off to a good start.

Ok, you can still be my lawyer.

Wife and I make around 102k combined. We have a 6 year old 4000 sqft(6 BR, 4 1/2 bath) craftsman style home sitting on a 3/4 acre lot to house us and our 4 children. We also still own our first home and have it as a rental. We own outright 6 acres of land 45 miles south of Breckenridge Colorado and 2 acres of land 20 miles north of Flagstaff, AZ for long term investment purposes. Our 2009 Suburban LTZ was paid for in 3 years and only make payments on our 2nd vehicle. We take at least two family vacations to the Gulf a year and sometimes three. Will be taking the entire family to Kauai in late May.
All the crap you read on here when people say you have to be making 150k or more to live comfortable is absurd and just indicates that they are living in fantasy land. Just trying to hard to impress.
I mean.....if you think owning multiple vacation homes, a yacht or two and maybe a small plane to globetrot is what is needed to be comfortable, than 55k would not achieve that. But, everybody already knows that. These threads turn into your average Joes professing their pipe dream to be their reality.

Meh. I lived in a ghetto apartment before where I live now.
Id rather have a roommate and live in a nice place where I feel safe and enjoy coming home to than shell out comparable money for a shithole where I'm in constant danger and my car gets broken into.

Alone in a cardboard box? No thank you.
I lived in a very nice apartment in ATL and Dallas on that income, and never lived on raman either. I saved 10k a year too. Unless you're an idiot, it's super easy to live on 55K per year so long as you aren't in NYC.

Coming out of school you will be just fine. I've known a lot of kids who start off a with a lot less.
