That's pretty good right out of school man. Don't listen to most people on here. I started at less than that and I didn't have to alter anything in my lifestyle.

Yes, I wrote that, yes it is wrong.
I left college in 08. 100000 apologies on behalf of me and my typing.

Graduating next month, and will be making around 55,000 starting right out of school. Anybody been in this situation and would care to share how they did coming out of school?
Dude, you'll be more than fine. That's even assuming you have the typical amount of student loan debt.
Don't get sucked into the common yuppie thought process that you're not "successful" unless you're driving a BMW, have a 50" flatscreen on your wall, and regularly take trips to St. Barts. That's the kind of thinking that will lead someone to ask whether they will be OK or not making $55,000/year.
Save as much as you can early on, live within your means, and don't be a fool with your money.
Have fun. Live life. But don't obsess over the need to possess overhyped trinkets like luxury cars and rolex watches.

So you make double the average Survey Coordinator? You must be the best in the world at it.
I honestly have no idea what they make. I know what I make, and I know what I do. That's enough for me.
Should I add it's pipeline surveying to quench your thirst for knowledge?

I am 25, make about $15k less than that a year (went to a 2yr technical college and have 5 years experience in my field), and I live comfortably even with a small car note. Granted, I have a roommate to save myself some money, but to answer your question: yes. As long as you're not completely stupid with your money, 55k/yr for a single guy with no kids is substantial. You should have no problem making it on that salary.

It's only a suggestion in response to your story of ending up here.

Extremely good advice. Upvote.

bro, owning a 50" flat screen is out of place on that list

I think grad assistants make $14k a year and i'll live fine, in a pretty dope apartment.
55k should be cake
albeit I don't have to pay for health insurance and have no car note

I make about $60,000 a year and I have no problems living in a city near Seattle. I basically have enough money to do whatever I want. You'll be fine as long as you spend your money wisely, and right out the gate means your money will only go up.
