Early to rise, early to bed
And in between I cooked and cleaned and went out of my head
Going through life with blinders on, it's tough to see
I had to get up, get out from under and look for me
There's a new girl in town and she's looking good
There's a fresh freckled face, in the neighborhood
There's a new girl in town, with a brand new style
She was just passing through,
but if things work out she's gonna stayyyy a-whiiile....ba ba bum bum bummmm

As a kid in the 80s, I could watch that show 2-4 times a day as it was in syndication on multiple networks. My favorite episode was when Mel bought a time clock and made them clock in and out. He failed to realize they were working overtime and their paychecks went up, so he ditched the time clock. They were cool with it because they just wanted to be trusted. Ah, before lawyers f’ed everything up.

She's still alive.

That kid is deceased?

I was surprised too. He died in 2019 from a lengthy illness. He was 55.

I thought Mel owned it?

I think he was referencing the song.

Flo was more popular than Lavin, so Lavin was a bitch to her and had her replaced. She was not as attractive as Jolene, so she did her best to make Jolene miserable too.

She was leaving anyway so the producers tried to make more money off of a popular character. Lavin was turrible to anyone more popular, prettier, etc. She was well known for this in TV, and on Broadway.
