Can anyone speak today without using the word "like" 25 times in a sentence? Do the users realize how dumb it makes them sound?

It really seems to take away from the person and language. Though its origins are probably many years ago from Valley Girls in California, it really picked up in the mid/late 90s. I often voiced my concerns then. Sadly I now see it being used by Brits and the rest of the English speaking world.

Zooey Deschanel was once recorded saying it 56 times within a 2 minute segment on a talk show.
