When I was poor in college I took math classes and never played state lottery games, realizing how long the odds were.

Sometime along the way I I got where I could afford to pick up a quick pick here and there and a scratch off every now and then. I know the chances are still slim to none, but I love that little bit of “what if?”

In 15 years I’ve probably won $2k and spent $6-7k. The only thing I regret is not putting that in BITCOIN in 2010.

Obviously almost everyone is a net loser or the games wouldn’t remain.

What’s your net?

The lottery is a tax on the stupid and/or the poor. Selling dreams of ocean front doublewides for $2 a ticket.

I've probably spent $200 won $20

We call them “scratchers,” not “scratch offs.” Get serious or get out.

You can’t win if you don’t play.

They make great pirate party gifts when you have a low $$ cap for the gift.

I won $100 one time. Enough for 2 tanks of gas. Not sure how I've spent.

It's just entertainment. If someone is spending money they need for bills on these then they're just stupid.

Let me examine your spending habits and I'll find a better example of wasteful spending than $5 every other week on a daydream.

I've won $500 on a $2 Jumbo Bucks two times.

Still definitely a net negative though.

Is less than $10 a week really that egregious?

If I’m drunk and there’s one of the scratch off vending machines near me I’m about to lose a hundred bucks
