Born and raised in Denham. My dad coached football in LP and my mom was a principal. Sure you have an issue here and there, but the way denham has blown up over the last few years, there must be something here that people want. In my 31 years, i have never had any issues. I feel safe. My wife feels safe. I know tons of people. I know tons of people who moved away, but 90% of them have come back and started to raise a family.

My best example of the way LP does things is last year, a guy killed another guy. Something that almost never happens. Within an hour, LP had swat, cops, 4 wheelers, helicopters, etc looking for this guy. He was arrested within the day. LP don't play.

I lived in Denham for four years. My wife had a job in Baton Rouge and I was in Hammond. I think the commute criticism is warranted, but depending on your hours, you may miss the traffic. I was not a fan of Denham. There seemed to be less sense of neighborhood there. A lot of people seemed to be transplants or not wanting to be there. They are there for the lower cost of living or the family ties and consider themselves just living on the edge of Baton Rouge lifestyle and community wise. I would have much prefered Central had it not been an extra 15 min commute. They have excellent schools and a sense of neighborhood and community I think Denham lacks. That area and Zachary seem to have rural land, stuff to do, and it's own sense of sperate pride and neighborhood compared to Denham.

I am calling BS on all this talk about a lower cost of living than Baton Rouge. Somebody give me one solid example of lower cost of living in Denham.

Doesn't the Central Thruway make that area along with northern Livingston more accessible?

My opinion is that I-12 and along Range ave is frustrating during rush hour. Juban will probably be congested when they finish building it out.

I don't see traffic getting any easier.

I live in Central and love it. Denham seems nice. The one cluster frick I've noticed is the off ramp going west. Some damn idiots planned that out.

I'd recommend Central unless you are white trash....then Livingston all the way.

Central is what Denham was back in 80's.

Finally got out of shitty EBR system.

Growing now & decent schools

But it'll be fighting the same crap DS is fighting now without good leadership and planning.

Good school in EBR... $5k + for Private School

Good School in LP....Public

If you want to live in a nicer area of BR, it's more expensive than same footprint in LP.

What is life like in Denham Springs?

Life is nice and quiet. Simple folk who like to put in a hard day's work, earn an honest paycheck, and pay their respects on Sundays. If you're into fancy schmancy restaurants, hipster bars or thug music, you probably won't like it, in which case you best stay away.

I'm from BR and moved there when my kids were little for the "good" schools. It was the 9 most miserable years of my life. Very glad to have gotten out. Very backwoods, small town with a weird group of uppity folks. I don't get it. Have never and will never look back.

I went to HS in Walker and moved to Denham after college.

I like Denham but I liked Walker more. Just that Walker is further out from everything. I work in Geismar now and my commute sucks but such is life.

They like high school, basketball, and cheerleaders. In the summer they haul logs for their daddy, and if work was slow, they did construction. They aren't invited when they divy up the pork. And that's....okay.

Is your fiancé a guy?

If not, it's a fiancée.

Rush hour traffic in and out of Denham is horrific.
People I know that live out there like it but hate the traffic.

Unless you live 5 minutes from work, Rush hour traffic is gonna suck no matter where you live in or around BR

It's not like living across the amite intensifies the traffic that much more
