None, but it gives people another reason to complain so that’s good

There have been a few court rulings that disagree with that and several opinions that state this may be a violation of your 4th amendment rights.

Here is a review of Commonwealth V. McCarthy.

The cops also use plate reader info to assess credibility of suspected drug couriers. They stop a couple of Hispanics who says they are going from Dallas to Atlanta for work, but LP reader shows that they were down at the border yesterday morning and drove straight through. Hmmm. Or it shows that the car has gone back and forth on this run several times. Also Hmmm.

Some have posted that cops need probable cause to make a traffic stop. Incorrect. They need only reasonable suspicion, which is an even lower standard. It requires the cop to have specific, articulable facts that lead them to believe a driver may be involved in criminal activity or has committed a traffic violation.

Bumping the fog line, following too closely, changing lanes without signaling, or speeding 1 mph over will do. You can’t drive a mile without committing some kind of potential infraction that will justify a stop.

My tag expired at the end of November and I forgot to renew until Friday when I did it online so now I am waiting on the new sticker to come in the mail.

Even though the sticker is old, it should still show up as up to date in the system, shouldn't it?

Every black camera you see with a solar panel is a license plate scanner. They just harvest driving data and violate your rights every day.

Software engineer in my town is trying to put together a website that lists the location of these readers. There are a lot around Huntsville but doesn’t look like he is getting much traction in other areas.

Yes, once you paid the registration fee. The state though ostensibly should have sent you notice at least 45 days prior to expiration. Like I said, should have....

The fact that your movements can be tracked is scary. What business is it of the government to know my movements.

Yeah so it nabs some drug couriers, but the prospect and potential is scary enough for the law abiding that law enforcement needs to be reined in , quite a bit.
