He talks about it in context of him already invading Ukraine, so I’m not sure why you think this. Putin is the one interview he wants the most besides interviewing Elon while they’re both in space.

Interesting. I was curious if he had anything to say about Ukraine and Putin. Yesterday he said:
"I stayed up all night talking to people in Ukraine and Russia. I'll publish Mark Zuckerberg podcast another day. I will travel to Russia and Ukraine."
I halfway expected him to do his podcast from Ukraine today, but I guess the travel arrangements are a bit tricky. Maybe Elon Musk can get him on one of the Starlink receiver shipments.
