Your boyfriend's insurance should cover him when he is driving your car.

The insurance on the vehicle is the primary coverage. When you loan someone your car, you also provide the insurance afforded on your policy. The driver's insurance policy, if he has coverage, is secondary. Every insurance policy has a section that outlines your duties as a policyholder. This includes notifying the insurance company of drivers of the vehicle(s). If you are providing your vehicle for the regular use, as opposed to occasional (once in a while) use, it is your duty to notify the insurance company of this exposure. If you don't, they may be able to deny any claims that result from that driver's regular use. To further complicate the issue, insurance companies have a HUGE problem insuring people that have regular use of your vehicle that are not residents of your household. Many companies will cancel your policy due to this added exposure. Long story short...don't do it.

You do know that indentured servitude was outlawed in the early 1900's?

This is something that has always chapped my arse with most people's view of the South pre-Civil War. Most people are ignorant enough to believe everyone in the South had slaves when very few actually did. Most white people in the South were either farming as indentured servants or were sharecroppers and didn't have it much better than the slaves did.

Yeah, sounds like you may just need to add him to your insurance and work out a payment deal with him to cover the extra expense here.

That seems to be the best route IMO. I don't know all the legal laws here, but that would seem to really cover things.

Make two contracts for him/her to sign and get notarized maybe?

1. He/She is paying his way on your insurance.
2. He/She is only using this car on a limited bases. (Specify the length of time or something) It won't be long enough to where your tags expire will it?

Good luck. Hopefully you get it all squared away and don't have to worry about anything.

You're loaning your car out as a dope rental, aren't you?

How much H did you get for loaning it out for a week?

No. The owners insurance is first then the borrowers insurance.
