Bridgestone

I just had my tires replaced for the first time since owning my SUV. Bridgestone. 112k miles. I’ll stick with them until they give me a reason otherwise.

decided to give Bridgestone a try and after three years of use and they have exceeded my expectations.

I’ve had Bridgestones on mine for a couple years now, and they’ve been great. Very quiet, smooth ride with little wear showing on them. First set of Bridgestones I’ve vet had.

I usually just buy what’s on sale at the time I need tires.

I'm not sure if you've ever dealt with Discount Tire but their customer service/ hazard replacement etc etc etc is top notch.

I just went to Discount Tires today cause I needed to order a new set of tires for my jeep. Will go back later this week to get them put on. Their customer service is great from previous experiences, free tire rotation and balance for the life of the tires.

Got a set of Goodyear Wrangler Duratrac. Goodyear currently has a $100 rebate if you buy 4 tires and Discount Tire has a $50 rebate so I'm getting back $150. I don't give a crap about politics...I know these are good tires for what I want.

Here is my question....should I pay the extra money for their certificate for refund/replacement? My tires are $200 each so the warranty will cost an additional $30 a tire.

To also clarify....they are doing construction at my work for the next 3 years(building a brand new hospital right next door to the current hospital). I've already gotten one flat from a stray nail (likely from construction) on the roads on the hospital campus.

It depends. On a lower profile tire I say yes. My neighborhood is having tons of construction and all the passenger car tires get flats relentlessly. But all the A/T truck tires have yet to pick up anything that can get through and I haven’t had a single issue on those.

Twenty-something replies and Twenty-something driving styles. There are 4 patches between you and the concrete. If Michelin’s work for you then you should stick with them. I choose Michelin’s and Continentals.

Michelin, but expensive
Dunlop, burn, but more economic and give good performance
Pirelli, they come with the car

My flat (from a nail) was actually on the mud tires currently on my jeep

Although...Discount Tire was able to fix it and didn't charge me for it(even though I didn't purchase the tires from them).

The mud tires on them were actually the stock tires from my husband's rubicon. He got his lifted so just let me have his stock tires when I needed my original ones replaced.

Now...seems silly for me to spend the extra money on replacement mud tires when I don't really need them. The A/T ones will be a good balance for me in the few situations where I do have to do a little bit of off roading.

go with uniroyal, they are made by michellin and are just as good but arent as expensive, its like michellins wholesale brand for fleet trucks and truck dealership tires

On performance cars I either run a Michelin Sport Cup 2

Have you run SC2's? I have them on my car, they are not the best at anything and they are insanely expensive in addition to wearing out extremely fast. I am considering 4S's as a replacement but pricing is so volatile on my tire size (305/30/19) that I am going to make a final decision to get new tires. I don't understand pricing on these things, Michelin stays steady but some of the other brands top tires will cost $400 a piece one day and then they will run $230 on special... and it just isn't one brand doing that.

These were long considered a middle-tier brand. Then they got some kind of supplier contract with Mercedes-Benz.

I'm not saying they're bad, but I don't think they're head-and-shoulders above any other brand you've heard of. Even on a Mercedes, tires are just a wear item.

Yes I currently have a set on my GTR. I mostly use them for road course events or normal driving. One thing most people don’t realize is they need some heat in them. I’ve ran the 4S before and didn’t like it as much as the SC2 or R888R. But both of those are pretty specific in what they’re good and bad at and I manipulate the tune for the tire i.e. I can launch hard on the R888R but can’t be as aggressive with the side loading. The opposite is true for the SC2. For comparison sake I’m running 285/35/20 and 325/30/30.

I've run Cooper since the early 80's. Mom worked for an insurance agent in Tulsa that had a referral agreement and we'd get a big discount.

After I moved out I kept with Cooper because they were still cheaper. After coming back to La. I got referred to a small family chain of tire and light engine shops for their quality and integrity. Turns out that chain is mainly Cooper but does carry some other stuff too.

Only time I haven't had Cooper since at least 1984 is a tire failure on latest vehicle which runs a wide, low profile, tire that is really really hard to find in stock anywhere. That small chain I frequent would order a set but it would've taken 3 days and I only needed the 1. When I do need a set I'll call them and have them order ahead of time.

I drive about 40,000-50,00 miles per year. Large SUV. Fwiw I have tried Michelin (excellent tires but pricey), continental (worst tire made ever), Pirelli (great tire, poor wear) , and now running Yokohama Geolanders. The Yoko’s are the best I have tried so far and I am sticking with them. Ride is quiet and soft and are wearing fantastic.

Yoko is good. Forgot them. Great, really. Not cheap, however.
