Been here just south of Tampa for a year. Love it.

I live in Port St Lucie. I have never been happier. Its an exclusive area, but low crime and a peaceful existence. You get what you pay for.

The Bay Area is great. With the exception of the roads the geriatrics largely segregate themselves. Plenty of family friendly suburbs if you don't want to live in South Tampa or Downtown St. Pete.
I guess the thing that I didn't appreciate when I moved is how spread out the 3+ million in the metro area are between Tampa/St. Pete/Clearwater/Pasco/East Hillsborough. You won't really find a city or densely populated feel anywhere.
It's also hot and humid as balls 3/4ths of the year, but the 1/4th will be the envy of the world.

Moved to panhandle from LA 25 years ago. Never once thought about leaving. If you love all water activities then there is no other place in this country to even consider. Been to most coastal areas and no comparison. Cost of living is low if you stay away from Miami area. Public services put LA to shame. Wide variety of people live all over FL from around the country. People are just happier in general.

Besides Austin, I despise Texas
Like me saying that i hate the entire state of Florida because I had a bad vacation trip to Orlando or a terrible experience in the panhandle.
Fact is that I've never spent more than a week straight in Florida, so I won't make that kind of blanket statement.

Sorry, Rouge, let me clarify, of all of the places I have been in TX, Austin was the only tolerable place.

Best day of my life was when I left Florida and moved to Colorado.

Austin was the only tolerable place
In my opinion, Austin is a lot like New Orleans in that it is great place to visit but not a place that I want to live anywhere near

Despite folks from Louisiana denying it, with the exception of the food, Florida is far superior to Louisiana.
Except for Gainesville. Gainesville fricking sucks.

Moved to a condo on the beach in N. Naples last Dec. I love Florida and not paying state taxes. Miss Louisiana food something fierce though.

Let’s talk Florida.
Not sure about Tampa other than it has bad traffic. Buddy of mine moved to Jacksonville last year and loves it.

Rouge, I gave my opinion of TX, just an opinion. And you called it stupid. It was merely an option, based on personal experiences. Yes, Austin was fun to visit. No clue about living there, no desire to find out. Have a drink and calm down.

I’d prefer Texas. More wide open spaces and a better variety of things to do. Same entertainment options such as pro sports and concerts. Same variety of ethnic food. Better options for topography
I'd prefer Tennessee, North Carolina or possibly even Colorado. I'd like more seasons and somewhat cooler weather

What are you looking for and what is your situation? If you are going to work in Tampa, you want to live close to work. Traffic is a bear. Are schools important?

Buy you some Hurricane Insurance and have a decent mindset about the people you'll deal with on a daily basis. Wont be too bad
