I literally cried when that happened. Horrible, horrible night.

Looking back, certainly the glory days of professional wrestling. They did a fantastic job of selling the NWO/WCW feud.

ETA: And trash filled the ring. Easily the most effective, best heel turn of all time. When you have people throwing shite at you, and they all are aware it's fake, you've knocked that shite out of the park.

NWO.. I was in HS when this happened and some of my friends & I went ride around with black spray paint & painted NWO on shite around town. This girl we knew, her dad had just put up a huge wooden fence and they were the first house off a main hwy and one of the people with us said they would be willing to cross a canal to go spray it. That dude sprayed a huge N-W-O on the fence.

It really was. When WWF bought out WCW, it was kinda like some really sad foreshadowing of an end of my childhood. Looking back, that's exactly what it was. At the time, I didn't know that.

do u think bobby the brain spoiled a bit of it when he said but who's side is he on?

The announcers were kept in the dark, something WCW was known to do sometimes. Heenan was just doing his usual anti-Hulk routine.

Best and worst day in wrestling history. Was the beginning of the WCW wins over WWF. Too bad all those huge contracts with creative control to guys like Nash and Hogan killed it.

The end of WCW was about the end of my wrestling watching. Think they had or have a monday night wars special on netflix, was pretty legit.

As a 5~ kindergartener the NWO/WCW was the coolest thing around. It was all what me and my little buddies talked about at school, we worshipped them.

I don't think I even made the end of the WCW by the time I checked out of wrestling. Not sure if it's something you grow out of or it just went to shite.

Either way it was a fun time to grow up. Monday nights were appointment viewing. Remember even having the nitro parties trying to get on tv

Anyone else used to call Dave Hernandez's wrestling hotline on the advocate?

Sigh....my dad. Looking back it seems ridiculous to call a hotline to find out info you could just wait to watch.

It's so hard to watch it now without feeling like he spoiled it, but you're exactly right. At the time, he always heeled it up when talking about Hogan. I had always heard that he still got heat for it backstage for kind of giving away the turn, though.

One other thing that isn't talked about much is how much the crowds were tiring of Hogan by this point. He was even getting slight boos in some places. I think that made people that much more angry at the turn. They were begging for a reason to really hate him.

I almost quit saying my prayers and taking my vitamins after that night. And then our only savior was a gay mime. Not the cool bleach blonde hair and neon face paint Stinger, but a gay mime. Smh
