Let’s talk about Eastern Europe

For as much as other places around the world seem like shitholes, Eastern Europe is pretty disturbing.
I’ve been taking a history course that really focuses on 20th century East European history and it’s beyond fricked up.
I really began to consider, is there any worse time to be born than 1900 Poland as an example?
Conflicts involving Poland between 1900 and 1950.
1905 Kingdom is Poland Revolution
World War I
Finnish Civil War
Poland/Ukraine War
Greater Poland Uprising
Polish German Conflict of 1918
Polish Coup of the 1919
Polish Czeck War
Bender War
Polish Soviet War
Silesian Uprising
Polish Lithuanian War
Krakow Riot
May Coup
Lesko Uprising
Capture of Zaolzie
World War 2 (in this conflict alone, well over 20% of Polish population was killed)
Holocaust
The conflict of the Cursed Soldiers
1944-1949 Ukraine Conflict
1945 Polish Czech Conflict
That does t include so much of the misery of the time. Millions died in ethnic swaps after World War II. Riots were rampant.
Poland was just an example. It was that way for most countries in Eastern Europe.
It’s just hard to wrap your mind around how tough life was for them

The course actually went into why the Polish people were so marginalized.
When Poland was partioned, Austria, Russia, and Prussia wanted to be able to claim that Poland wasn’t a real country so they set up huge PR campaigns

Right....everyone is clamoring to go and retire and vacation in Eastern Europe. Eastern Europe has and always will be the taint of the white race.

I wouldn’t say that. There’s some really interesting parts that have been conflict free for decades. And there’s a lot of really cool things about it. But it’s just had a really shitty 120 years in general

What are you basing this on? I’ve been to both sides of Europe recently. In my opinion, Eastern Europe is way worse.
There’s no way I’d trade Holland for freaking Belarus.

I would love to visit the Baltic, Poland, Czeck, Croatia, and maybe a few other countries. I would not like to visit some countries at all over many 3rd world countries

Polish people have to be some of the best people in Europe. I go every year for 3 weeks and I’ll retire there eventually.
