Here in Kentucky we have some dry counties because MADD was formed after the Carrollton County Bus Crash and they’ve pushed really hard for those counties to remain dry.

Gotta love that line of thinking. We hate drunk drivers so much that our solution is to make them drive FURTHER to go get fricked up.

Columbia Co.

I'm from Ouchita Co. I remember playing against Magnolia at the SAU stadium (baseball) and American Legion ball there. All were day games cause there were no lights. Afterwards we'd load up with a senior and head to haynesville and stock up for the weekends. Good times

Growing up, Friday nights were planned around who was riding with who to Haynesville, LA to pick up the weekend fun. Some of my best times were riding backroads hitting signs with beer bottles (trashy?).

This. The best part about growing up in a dry county was loading up and heading to Bastrop, LA on a liquor run. Harold’s in bastrop was heaven to a 17yo country boy back in the early 90’s.

Agreed. People flat lost their mind after that accident. I appreciate the changes it created for school buses to prevent the fire and deaths that occurred in the midst of the accident. But, they tried their damndest to flat run access to alcohol together out of part of the state.

Perhaps people should focus on their families and their lives instead of worrying about when they should go get fricked up next.

.08 alcohol limit can be as little as 2.5-3, 12 ounce beers for a 140 lb person.

Perhaps you should get a life.

How horrible it must be. To not be able to go to a grocery store any day of the week and while you are getting the rest of your groceries you stop by the alcohol section of the store and pick out a bottle of wine or whatever alcohol you want.

My grocery store by me actually has a small bar in it now. You see people with their buggies parked next to it, having a drink. Mostly old men that are just hanging out having a beer watching tv while their wives shop.

Coast, I think you're missing one dry county: West Carroll perhaps.

The old Schwagmans stores in the NOLA area used to be that way in the 70's and 80's.

The Whole Foods in Metairie was supposed to have a bar, but the nimrods shut that idea down.

The law here is that they still can’t sell it in stores that sell a “substantial amount of groceries”. That’s why Kroger and Meijers added liquor stores that they run that are right next door to the store itself. And Walgreens is able to actually sell it in their stores.

Your somm wouldn’t be shopping in those kinds of areas anyways.

He’d be in specific fine wine accounts.

Am I thinking of Alabama or Florida that does that? I remember on beach trips, you would have to walk to a separate little store to buy liquor.

For liquor but you can buy beer and wine in the actual store. Part of Louisiana are like that too.
