Let's say you have a neighbor that doesn't maintain their yard.

Only cuts their grass maybe once a month, bags of mulch have just been in their flowerbeds for weeks. Tacky pink flamingoes.

Do you let it upset you because it looks so bad, or do you enjoy the fact that it makes your yard look so much better by comparison? I'm leaning towards the latter. I cut once a week, weed eat maybe every other week, and am admittedly very behind in weeding the flowerbeds, but my yard looks pristine compared to theirs.

Unless my house is for sale I really don't give a shite what the neighbors do with their yard.

Lowers my property value. Somebody comes to look at your house and will not buy because they will assume the neighbor is trash

I can't see the difference between you and your neighbor.

If no HOA, as long as it isn't blight who cares? I have a neighbor similar to this but she is a single mom with several kids. She cuts it maybe once a month. I have enough to worry about versus obsessing over someone else's yard.

I admit I really don't care because all my neighbors are elderly and when 1 mower fires up, everyone's does. My neighbor J throws grass in my yard so when mine gets cut I return the favor to her.

Not saying my yard looks great, just that having a neighbor like that next to me slightly hides my laziness

Trust me, there's a big difference. I'm just about the only one on my block that cuts every week. We have an HOA, but they don't seem to enforce grass cutting.

So join the HOA board and enforce grass cutting, if it bothers you that much.

Similar situation with my neighbor.

Everyone in our neighborhood is cutting 2x/week now, and they are only cutting once a month…

Everyone knows when the HOA folks drive through for monthly rounds, and “surprisingly” they have it cut right before they come through.

I know they are about to get slammed over it because whenever folks are walking/jogging around, I hear them make comments about that yard.

Now, I can understand if it’s an elderly person, single mom, or disabled persons. But, the husband is a grown able body man….if he can haul arse to go fishing on the weekend, then he can take care of his house..

*end rant*

I don't really worry about how other people maintain their property.

You could always offer to cut it for them.
