Old Metry residents are too scared to call the police. Their neighborhoods would be seen as risky and they are too overextended to afford a hike in their insurance premiums.

No one in Uptown defends their decision to live here. They just subtly mention the costs to overcome the adversities.

If someone here wishes they lived in Metry they just buy a house in Metry.

Airline to I-10 and Causeway to the parish line.

Its well accepted...except for this board for some reason.

I may add that I grew up in Old Metairie (poor side), but after grad school in Uptown my wife and I set a goal to live Uptown. I personally think it's one of the great neighborhoods in America. However, I just don't have time in my life to deal with the taxes and bullshite with nothing in return.

It pains me to say this bc I do love new orleans. The longer I live I realize that I really just love what new orleans should/could be...so I commute 6-8 minutes to downtown for work and know the police will not take 6 hours to show up if something actually did happen in my neighborhood.

For decades, real estate appraisers defined Old Metairie as “Area 19” with the boundaries of Airline to I-10 and Causeway to the parish line.

The neighborhoods on the fringe have tried to argue they are in Old Metairie as well, but their homes were not used as comparable real estate for a very long time.
