Who cares what happens in California. It’s a garbage dump for communists. Let the Chinese have it.

I'm sure defunding the police even more and repealing the 2nd Amendment will solve the issues. Right?

TIL that the LAPD budget was $3 billion.

Even after the cuts, Los Angeles pays $715 per resident for the LAPD and Houston pays $417 per resident for HPD.

Don’t hit these dumb asses with facts. LAPD has a monstrous budget, that like all things California, is artificially inflated and full of fat.

Homicide rates being up in 2021, is completely meaningless. New Years night always has a disproportionate amount of homicides due to people partying, drinking to excess, etc. So with that being included in a stat that only includes a little over half of one month, vs a whole year, makes it worthless.

You should re-read the OP (or maybe read it for the first time)

You are correct, I didn’t read it, I see now it is broken down by month. Either way, super small sample size. Also there are many factors that can contribute to higher homicide rates. Poverty(which of course is up everywhere), is a huge contributing factor, also a decline in mental health and uptick in drug addiction and alcohol use are no doubt contributing factors. To try to reduce it to one thing is silly, but if you had to, the answer would be Covid/the Covid reaction.

Sounds dubious at best.

So does everything that has gone on on the last year regarding an increase in substance abuse, mental health issues, and increased job loss not play a role in increased violent crime?

Public employees make too much money in California. Its out of whack. NY, Cal, MASS and Illinois.

Not to mention the pensions.

He has been basically a lame duck president for a year, given COVID, and the democrats running wild in cities across America in 2020.
