You think 18 year olds don't drink?

I know they do.

I'm saying that when it was legal to buy cheap beer at 18 that's what we did.

But when it's not legal you only get limited chances to score alcohol. So when the opportunity comes, you get the most potent kind you can.

Then let those fighting do the drinking because putting yourself in a position of going to war is a mark of maturity on their part.

Other 18 year-olds - maturity is not their best asset.

And let them gamble.

I'll make plenty of room for them at my casino. If you're old enough to be in porn, you're old enough to throw money at my building.

Is alcohol poisoning common now? Is it really more common than when you could buy beer at 18?

My opinion is that cars should come stock with breathalizers. I don't know why they don't.

75% of those who die from alcohol poisoning are over 35 years old.

CDC stats

The law does not and has never prevented dangerous overconsumption of alcohol or drugs by young adults.

I have been saying for years to bring the legal drinking age down to 18.

The problem is that there isn't a politician willing to make the argument that it is for the best.

As a parent I taught my children what moderation and responsible drinking means. Both of my kids understand that there are consequences for their actions and know right from wrong.

Too many parents stick their head in the sand and think that laws will stop their kids from doing something wrong. These are the same parents who won't discipline their kids when they do something wrong while growing up.

As a parent who has a child at LSU in the Greek system, I can't say that I don't have those fears that I will get that call that my child was involved with something like happened today. But I know I raised him to know right from wrong and just hope he remembers the things he was taught before he moved on to the next step in his life.

Moving the drinking age didn't save lives. Rather than 18 year olds dying in drunken car accidents, its now 21 year olds.

It should be 18 for everything.

Voting, alcohol, and joining the military.

This is true. I remember back in the day when I was 20 and would go out to eat with parents, most places wouldnt let me get a beer even though I was with my parents.

On the other side of the sprectrum, I think its stupid a lot of parents who are severly strict on their kids not drinking at a younger age even in front of them. Then they send their kid to college with no experience and kids go crazy.

There are not limited chances for 18 year olds to buy alcohol. You clearly don't know teenagers. They can get it easily.

Have you seen the stupid shite that happens at tailgates with people who are supposed to be more mature and responsible?

You can't. The overwhelming majority of American 18 year olds are not capable of moderating consumption. ESPECIALLY regarding drunk driving. There's a reason it's no longer legal. It's not because it was dangerous for them, it's because they were a fricking danger to the rest of us.

If you're old enough to vote for politicians who can make laws saying you're not old enough to do something, then you're old enough to buy a case of those Miller white cans.

Blame the Feds

Other nations drinking laws make us look like prudes. 21 is ridiculous.

18 year olds voting do more damage than 18 year olds drinking

That's a bunch of bullshite. It's about money and everyone knows it. If you think politicians do stuff for the good of the people you are the most naive person I've ever come across.
