If I buy legit equipment, could I be still liable if there is an injury?

Start small & work your way up to the bigger sizes.

No. As long as the equipment is up to standards you are not liable. And, all football equipment comes with an explicit warning that they are not guaranteed to prevent injury.

If you have to ask, then you already know the answer.

Get the youth program to indemnify and defend you from any injuries. Hopefully the program has good insurance.

I will add this: learn to properly fit equipment. Proper fitting equipment will eliminate a lot of risk. Don’t just slap pads on a kid and guess. Know what you’re doing.

Anyone can sue you for anything.

Anyone can be sued for anything, how much money are you willing to spend in court proving that you are not liable?

Go to the manufacturer’s website, and they will have step-by-step tutorials. Different brands fit slightly different. Get a hand pump and fabric tape meausre.

I don’t know why anyone would not require the children/parents to buy their own equipment. Suppose there is a reason, but not sure what the reasoning is based on potential lawsuits.
