He wanted PBS Pinchback High. Which isn’t bad at all.
But the vote was the vote.
I’m kinda dumbfounded that Southdowns High didn’t make the final list.
Makes you wonder if a lot of top submitted names were “scrubbed” to put 2 mediocre choices and 1 good choice to push the vote.

I had mentioned Southdowns in a Lee High alumni Facebook group, and was told that there was a plantation that existed named that...
Sooooo...
Apparently that one wasn't going to be an option.
But im happy that it isn't named after a person.
Anything is better than in 2001 when they thought about being the "Steamboats " as a mascot

Yep. Class of 1979. Used to spend a lot of time hanging out under "F" Building and listening to 8-tracks in the parking lot before school. There was somebody in my family at that school from the time it opened in 1959 until I graduated in 1979.
