The Jacket Maker sells good quality, reasonably priced, full grain leather jackets which are a bit heavy, but will probably last long enough to leave to your grandchildren.
Overland Sheepskin makes very high quality jackets that range from pricey up to the "if you have to ask" level.
Schott falls in the middle and has ecellent quality stuff.
None of these are cheap.

Fly to Milan, rent a Ferrari and motor over to Florence and look around. Best leather on earth. Check out David, drive back to Milan, go see the last supper, turn in the Ferrari and fly home. The jacket is a bargain, will never go out of style.

Just get a First Manufacturing Company biker/motorcycle jacket. Cheap, true fit and lasts well. If it gets lost - oh well.
No. Not made in USA. My old leather jacket was made in Germany, but my son wanted it. My wife got me the FMC and it works well.
Mossi makes some nice leather jackets, but sizing is European and very tight. Pretty snug fit. Italian designed - Paki made.
