Tulane law is seriously overrated. LSU and Loyola are better.

Quality of education? Sure. But if you go out of state for work, I think the Tulane name means more.

Quality of education is probably about the same for most law schools. Tulane definitely would carry more weight than Loyola out of state

How much is the average tuition loan for a Tulane Law grad?

If they didn't come from a wealthy family, I imagine $150K for grad school alone?

I wouldn't be surprised if it totaled around 160-180.

I’ve been very lucky. A lot of it is practice group dependent. I may work more than an average person, but the M&A guy in the office next to mine pretty much lives at the office.

No way could I do that.

I wouldn’t be surprised at that figure either.

Tulaner here. That would be the number if you paid full rate. Can find that online I would think.

You can make 150k your first year out of most any law school

It's just insanely more difficult from Southern than from Duke

That's like saying you can make 150k a year out of HS. Yeah, technically possible, not gonna happen. The only likely way a Southern grad walks into a 150k job is either they know somebody or affirmative action.

Not much of a business guy if you think this has economic merit. What do you mean by “this”?

If one really is a “business guy” then spending 3 years and thousands of dollars for a law degree makes no economic sense so you can do your own legal stuff.

Make enough money to hire lawyers when you need them.

Why not get an IT degree too so you can doo all that as well?

I knew Alabama's law school was good, but I had no idea it was that good. 27 is very impressive, all things considered.

So the most effective attorneys, in the real world situations were guys that graduated near the bottom 1/3 of their law school class? Do you ask lawyers to provide where they ranked in their class?

Most lawyers don't mind telling you where they ranked in their class, because the guy that graduates at the very bottom but passes the bar is an attorney.

The guy I was talking about was a Jones Act specialist as such he spent a lot of time in Federal Court. He was good with people and understood them and could relate because he had worked offshore for a few years before going to LSchool...but he also had defense clients that he represented....he knew his stuff

He was not a Spencer Callahan type or a Dudley Debosier, although James Peltier can hold his own with anyone in just about any type of situation and he did not light it up in Law School. This guy had a little 3 man practice in NOLA in the CBD. I watched take a Harvard lawyer and school him on how to try a case...he did this routinely to guys from Tulane as well as Georgetown.

Smart move. The stuffed animals and crayons only keep those idiots distracted for so long.

Sooner or later they're going to sue. Unless there are no lawyers...

Alabama has been in the top 30 for a while now.

FSU used to be much lower than UF but now they're about equal.
