And if it does take a western turn, why is Laura not doing the same thing? They’re going to be 48 hours apart. When Marco turns, that tells me that the ridge is pushing west as well. Why is Laura turning INTO the ridge? Lows dislike Highs, correct?

I'd imagine that with the timing, the thinking is that the ridge will be sitting North of Louisiana for the first storm, so the storm smacks up against ridge and then heads West along the bottom of the ridge until it can find the lower pressure behind (West of) the ridge and make its turn North. By the time the second storm arrives, the ridge will have moved East and the storm can just head North and tuck up behind the ridge.

This is the wildest thing to happen to Louisiana back to back since Garth Brooks played the Cajundome back to back nights.

Wow. Yesterday this thread was at 300 posts. Is this storm going to make Louisiana?

985 should be fine as long as you aren't all that close to the Tfunk or lakefront

You're going to watch Laura go WNW at the same time.

Laura is going to turn around the edge of the ridge, not into it.

Storm surge for Reggio/Delacroix is going to be a mess.

That’s what I’m trying to understand, so pardon my ignorance. That model says that the ridge is pushing Marco to the west. Telling me that the ridge is strong and present.

Laura’s models (48 hours later) just continues north as if the ridge is gone.

Apologies if I’m not explaining this correctly. It’s like the ridge is there with Marco, but it isn’t for Laura?

I thought I had seen that Florida high pressure ridge was going to build in pretty strong.

I though high pressure spins clockwise and if you are to the southwest of it then it pulls you north

That’s why these guys are here

If that high pressure ridge that pushed Marco west when Laura comes through, why doesn’t it reflect that in the models as well?

The ridge is strong for Marco, but it's eventually eroded by the time Laura gets here.

Maybe in ATMS 1001 but this is a 4000 level class.
