The signature solicitors did not qualify the signers.

She's a horrible mayor but this doesn't really surprise me. Recalls rarely work.

“Gaming” the system is requiring more signatures than votes Teedy received.

So NOLA.com did a audit that was defended by a lot of people as accurate methodology.

Even that methodology didn't pick up on 2/3 of the names being fraudulent.

No shot they turned in 39k signatures that didn't qualify.

A lot of Metairie and the Northshore probably didn’t know they couldn’t sign it

There’s no question JBE’s numbers are off, but his goal is to keep this tied up in court so he doesn’t have to make a decision.

He gets to pander to the dems by protecting teedy, but gets to absolve himself to republicans by saying the numbers he was given were off and it was up to the courts to decide.

He’s doing what a politician does. Playing both sides and protecting himself.

Protecting himself from what? It’s not like he’s campaigning for votes.

The signatures were vetted independently before being turned in. Here comes the the court room circus.

The national scene. He’s got no shot with national democrats getting appointments to BS positions if he throws latoya to the wolves.

You mean the recall petition conducted of, by, and for citizens of the chocolate city was mismanaged? I am shocked.

I was gonna say, I thought the organizers paid a private company to audit the signatures. That’s why they filed the lawsuit to get 30k voters off the rolls.

Odds are they had the signatures but JBE was never going to allow it.

Don’t kid yourself. JBE has his eyes on bigger things.

JBE had nothing to do with the vote count. He just looked at the final number and said not enough.

Hopefully the recall effort has all the records/signatures and releases them to the public.

The counting should have been turned over to the Secretary of State. I would even argue all recall counts should go straight to them. I have zero faith any local governments in Louisiana could handle a recall correctly and without interference.

Agreed. Seems like they would be more equipped as well for a recall.

I wonder if they could have forged a lot of them… seems like it could be easy if they have the right list of registered voters in NOLA who may not have even known they “signed” the petition. Doesn’t seem like there’s much of a process to “unsign” yourself if you didn’t even know you were signed on in the first place
