Just going off the eyewitness in the Nola.com article bunchie. Bartenders asked him to tone it down. When he didn’t, they called security

The eyewitness said he was critical, but not foul.

Security didn't stop the event from happening and didn't remove him.

If anything Latoya approached him and that escalated the situation.

I'd say luckily this is overshadowing Latoya's latest ethics violation, but no one cares about that anyway. No one defending her has ethics.

We have different interpretations of the eyewitness.

quote:

The man had been in the bar for at least an hour, and at one point began openly criticizing the mayor and her decision-making during the storm. The eyewitness said the comments were critical, but he wasn't using foul language.

Staff at the bar asked him to keep his comments down, the eyewitness said, because he was making critical comments and then turning around in his seat to stare at the mayor.

Hotel security arrived. The man, who wasn't identified, made one last comment loudly. At that point, Cantrell waived off her security and confronted him.

Sounds like a politician who isn’t a piece of garbage would have handled something so innocuous a bit better.

Lester will habitually defend this moron and her big mouthed, ghetto AF attitude.

A "Let them eat cake moment" from Latoya and people are defending her.

People without basic services and she is dining on the City's dime at Windsor Court.

Bunch I think we’ve already established Cantrell as being out of line

Are you saying you think what this gentleman did was ok? I’m just trying to see where we actually disagree here

Our local media is pathetic. She is awful in every way and should be getting blasted.

Instead she’s running unopposed.

I’m saying I don’t think the guy did anything overly egregious that any politician hasn’t had to deal with x1000 worse.

If the guy did this to a normal person it would be a bit out of line.

To a politician that is legitimately one of the worst political leaders that a city has ever seen and is just a genuine all around awful person?

People should be harassing her relentlessly every where she goes from all angles. This women shouldn’t get any peace even at home. She should be run out of town on a rail.

She isn't running unapposed, but Georges is making sure NOLA.com keeps beating the drum that she is.

To my knowledge not a single debate us scheduled and Latoya won't be in a hurry to participate in one.

She essentially is. She doesn’t have a real challenger that will take more than 10% of the vote.

It’s almost like when there’s an election in North Korea, except North Korea is a better place to live with a more likeable leader.

Her spending needs to be further audited. You know this sleazebag is taking full advantage of tax payer dollars.

Lester, where should this guy have confronted her? What other opportunity does he have?

If she lets the man speak, she wont be able to respond.

Repeating the same phrase over and over is the tool of the mentally unarmed.

And then she tells reporters she was disrespected and had to stand up for herself.

As others have said, nola has the gov it wants. And it deserves everything it gets. I’m way past feeling bad or nostalgic for what it was/could be.

Lester is a thug wanna-be. What he is is a bonafide idiot, regardless of the topic.

I would say he was slightly uncivil. But it’s a justified incivility so no I don’t think he’s a douche.

Her reaction was over the top for what he said and did as one would expect from such low life trash like her that avoids opposition at all costs

This is kind of fascinating. People who are defending her don’t seem to have a problem with it. People who dislike her think politicians should act with more dignity. Other politicians are often treated the exact opposite.

I think it’s pathetic. I don’t care what the guy said, you can’t act like that when you’re the face of the city.

Assuming this is correct...

You're god damned right it's ok. She's an elected official who answers to the citizens of her city. Assuming he wasn't aggressive or foul mouthed he had absolutely every right in the world to tell her whatever he wanted to. Or is she floating above him as Mayor of New Orleans and is beyond criticism when seen in public by the proles?
