They don't have the luxury of time which makes it odd that they wouldn't specify prior military experience when calling for foreign volunteers.
I guess warm bodies are the biggest asset.

I don't think a reporter getting killed is needed to show Putin is committing war crimes. The pregnant woman and her unborn child dying after the children's hospital was bombed is making the rounds right now and is far more horrifying.

Bill Roggio said the Ukrainians are giving recruits just three days of training.
What the hell would they expect? They are going into an active war zone where one nation is fighting for it's very existence. They don't have time to practice maneuvers.

War crimes are generally a matter of intent or proportionality, not wether or not a pregnant was killed.

Amphibious operations are one of the most complicated operations in warfare. Judging by Russia’s performance to date, I seriously doubt they can pull of a successful assault on an urban environment from the sea.

I'm interested to see if the Russians will attempt a contested amphibious landing at Odessa.

You have to think they want to take and secure Mariupol prior to making a landing, but that is dragging on. They can't really abandon Mariupol in effort to link up with the landing troops and leave their rear exposed. They have to take and control Mariupol before they make that move. If not, it will be nasty for them.
The Russian landing ships have made moves toward Odessa today after several days of holding.
Ukraine has a homebuilt antiship missile called the Neptune that's based on a Russian design. As of last year 24 were operational. If the Russians haven't been able to account for them they may be reluctant to attempt a landing.

Or people could actually respond to my posts with their own cognitive thoughts as opposed to hitting a downvote button. Even still you haven’t replied to any of my posts about my thoughts or analyses of the war.

First action on Odessa:
@sentdefender
I really don't want to see that city get destroyed, but I guess war does what war does.

They may be looking to soften Odessa prior to attempting a landing. They don't have any support to link with at this point. We'll probably just see their Navy shell them and bombing runs from the air.

A few dozen Javelins could do some work on Russian landing craft.

I wonder if the Russians have had any Naval support in Mariupol? I haven't made it a point to look for reports of it. Looks like those efforts will be reserved for Odessa.
Meaning shelling, not landing.

Maybe China told them they had to prove they were capable of winning a battle before they get any aid.
