The funniest thing to me is that while Trump is tanking the US stock market and economy and screwing with the greater Global Economy

Are you telling me the stock market is going down while someone

-Implements tariffs meant mostly as a negotiation tactic

-Cuts to the spending, which by extension are cuts to both foreign and domestic businesses

-Is trying to get a peace deal done, which isn't good for defense contractors

Not to mention the market has been overvalued by P/E for a while now.

Crazy how economics works.

Russia will only come to the table after they clear Kursk.

It looks like they are pouring in equipment and people to get it done quickly.

Sad but true that many men will die for that small area of land.

You have to be joking. If a defense contractor can't make a fortune in the environment/demand created by Russia at the moment I don't know how they were ever in business. Arms are no longer a "do we need it right now?" question, but a "if we do need them, will we have enough" question.

The actions of the EU countries should tell you that they don't actually think this is as big of a deal as they are letting on. They are happy to stick it to Russia, but if you got them to tell the truth they aren't worried about fighting off an invasion. I would be shocked if there were anything more than marginal increases in defense spending among most European countries when we are looking back 5 years from now.

I disagree, but as you stated time will tell. In five years we will know if there is a big ripple effect.

You never know, five years from now Russia and Ukraine might be still at war.

President Putin arrives on the front in Kursk.

Uh oh, Putin is dressed out now. The war should be over in three days.

I wonder what Ukraine’s constitution says about captured POWs???
We know what Russians do.

Tell me how much gas/fossil fuels has Europe bought from Russia since the war began?

A better question would be how did Russia profit? If sold at a loss then it was to Russia's detriment. Even at a loss, Russia sort of profits by not having to shut in wells for months then have to go in and work each of the shut in wells over. So a minor loss is just less a loss.

That being said, I think that Russia made some profit but not that much with their cost to produce being so high in large due their inefficiencies inherent in where it is produced and their shitty maintenance.

Three days and it’s not a war. It’s a Special Military Operation against nato bees, Nazi labs, Russian Arachnophobia and something I don’t remember.

Well, do you think the rest of the world puts much stock in Russian or Chinese arms after this?

WAPO (via MSN): How the Ukraine war increased U.S. dominance of the global arms trade

Russia and China sell the most arms to developing African nations.. because they bundle that with government loans and all kids of other aid... but if the countries actually have to use the stuff they find out it stinks and if the adversary has US or European arms (made to NATO specs) they get their asses kicked.

Chinese jets in particular are a dud.

that didn't stop the Russian stock market from tanking, nonetheless...

But the President of the World's Largest Economy says he will be easing sanctions and reestablishing trade relations...
