You’re a military industrial complex propagandist. Possibly a profiteer, definitely a Warhawk, likely a Fed.

I've met you before and you seem like a good guy, so why do you come in here and start insulting people, simply because they disagree with your opinion?

I don't think that knocking bridges and other things 20 -30 miles behind the front lines is going to make a hill of beans in this conflict. If the Ukranians cannot solve the minefields they will not win. The Russians can have thinly manned lines behind the minefields and put up an effective front.
It will take some sort of massive remote operated mine clearing operations with effective artillery suppression to break the lines. Not sure if that can be accomplished without a new approach or new technology. This is turning into WW1 over one hundred years later.

Russia has let invaders beat themselves senseless against fixed defenses while trading space for time as long as there has been a Russia, unless Ukraine breaks through before winter the lines are set and you are looking at the new Russian border.

Are you kidding? This thread does nothing but belittle people who have a different opinion. I've been told I should be charged with treason and you've attempted to get me banned at least 3x.

I have not belittled you or sought to have you banned.
But you troll the thread.
As you have repeatedly admonished (without any good reason, as best I can discern) “stop derailing the thread.”
Argue in good faith, with facts, or stand down.

Um, you were banned several times, because you keep breaking the rules of this site. That's a reflection on your conduct, not mine.

You sure protest too much. Why is that?

The Fed in the thread was calling Hinkle a propagandist for Russia. So he must have lost an argument.

We have no business in Ukraine except to wash dirty money.

It’s not an opinion.

This is thread is dangerous. MIC propaganda. Same Jackasses who passed the unconstitutional Patriot Act are supporting this war.

America has a puppet president installed and are in bed with actual neo Nazis in Ukraine.

The puppet president wants American troops over there.
Military.com is calling for a limited draft.

This is much closer to WW3 than 45 did.

And because it lines the pockets of so many, y’all are pretending that it’s Americas right to police the world. It isn’t.

Nothing really. A few signs that Ukraine progressed a little, but nothing to lead you to believe that their counterattack might succeed.

That's fine but a LOT of plants have been shuttered since 2008.

Thanos probably thinks that Marine guards at embassies and consulates are military bases.

Not much. Ukraine seems to have been in something of an operational pause this week. The intensity of battles has been at a lower level.

- Storm Shadow strike takes out Syvash Rail Bridge (Russian supply line from Crimea)
- Minor Ukrainian advance east of Robotyne
- Failed Russian counterattack at Staromaiorske -- no movement on that axis
- New Ukrainian attack near Vuhledar -- unknown whether minor fixing attack or the beginning of Ukraine trying to open another axis
- Russian abandonment of Klischiivka south of Bakhmut (but Ukraine doesn't yet hold the town either).
- Minor Russian progress in some areas on the Kupiansk-Svatove-Kreminna front, but also a couple of areas of Ukrainian counterattack and reversal of losses.

That about sums up the last week.

Thanks for catching me up. I kinda figured it was still basically a stalemate. No telling how long this damned war will drag on.

Considering it’s been going on for 10 years, this conflict could keep going on forever

Technically, yes. But it ratcheted up to a whole other level with Russia launched a full scale invasion. Now, neither side can land a knockout blow on the other. The result of this will be akin to WWI where the issue was finally decided when one side had become so exhausted they had to throw in the towel.

For Russia, it’s a question of how long will the Russian people tolerate the daily toll of casualties on a war that seems to have no end and clearly isn’t being fought to “save” Mother Russia.

For the Ukrainians, it’s a different matter. Yes, they have far fewer bodies to throw into the meat grinder than does Russia. But the pool they do have to draw from has the motivating factor of fighting for what they see as national survival, not only from this invasion, but for the two centuries of deprivations the Russians have inflicted on Ukraine. The wildcard for them is their almost total dependence on NATO for weapons, ammunition, and the myriad of supplies needed to keep an army in the field. How long can, or will, NATO keep sending billions in aid? That’s the key. As long as NATO helps Ukraine, they can keep up the fight. But if the political winds in the West change, the outlook for Ukraine becomes bleak rather quickly.

I’m thinking unlike the US in Vietnam; Russian citizens are not like Americans. Their system is entirely different.

False.

quote:

False.

You repeat falsehoods and then claim that your falsehoods are fact, and not opinion. You fantasize that falsehoods are reality and insist that that they are true. But just because you pretend something to be true doesn't make it so.

It used to only be on the Left that we saw true nihilism, with people insisting that absolute truth didn't exist, and that what mattered was "my truth."

Now, it's all on the Right, where so many people have decided that truth is whatever they pretend that it is.
