According to this Ukrainian woman speaking on Fox News, Ukraine is getting their arse kicked and they need boots on the ground fast. This clearly contrasts from the Reddit/TD feed I’m getting here!
It's funny how you know the slant of the message simply by looking at poster names on here.

Ukraine’s best bet is too hold out long enough forcing Russia to fight dirtier and kill more civilians. This will create even more sympathy in the West for the Ukrainian people possibly making it more palatable for NATO to perhaps enforce a now fly zone over Ukraine. It’s a long shot but it’s really the only way Ukraine survives this war.

Plenty of open cheering for the Russians thiugh
Because there are sick and traitorous pieces of shite who would rather see Biden look bad than watch an adversary of the United States fall flat on its face. I want no quarrel with Russia but their government and its leaders work to weaken the United States and negatively effect our global interests. I dislike Biden and his administration, however, I am a patriot. Russia failing in Ukraine only helps the United States.

The defense contractors and military industrial complex that owns most of Washington needs their war now that we are no longer in Afghanistan.
Raytheon, Lockheed, Northop, Boeing have shareholders to answer to.

This only works if these people are also pushing for US intervention, like we had in Iraq. I don't really see that in this thread today.
There is also no requirement to make a circumstantial argument for aggression that isn’t obvious, as was done with Iraq. In this case the aggression is obvious and open. Anyone who denies it is siding with the aggressor and against the also obvious interest of the West, including the United States.

Agreed. Elections 8 years ago don't have any impact on today's events. That's the whole point.
That's not what I said. The elections that resulted in an American backed coup which caused a Russian invasion that has simmered during a 6 or 7 year long "cease fire" have everything to do with what's going on today.

It’s incredible to me Russia can’t dominate the air space at this point. I’m extremely surprised Russia didn’t do an all out air attack for days or a week or more before sending troops in. Seems like air domination was miscalculated biggly.
Same here.
After watching how our military operates for 20+ years, it is unthinkable to me that they didn't have a heavy air campaign before rolling ground forces. If not that, at least make sure Ukrainian air assets aren't still roaming the skies.
Just seems insane they rolled in without having controlled the skies.

[CNN]US official: Putin has more than 50% "of his total assembled power" inside Ukraine
quote:
Russian President Vladimir Putin has more than 50% "of his total assembled power now committed inside Ukraine,” a senior US defense official told reporters Saturday.
The official said the 50% consists of “largely combat power.”
"Clearly he’s gonna have to sustain them," the official said. "I just don’t have a breakdown by company or by unit of what he’s got. The farthest we’re willing to go comfortably is that he’s got more than 50% of his total assembled power now committed inside Ukraine."

I strongly disagree. Regardless of whether or not we intervene, conflicts like this should make us reflect on our foreign policy and the consequences it has on the rest of the world. Whether we want to admit it or not, the 2014 coup backed by our regime was the spark that has set this fuse. But we can't talk about it, because OGtigerfan87 will call you a Putin fanboy. Michael Scheuer has talked about blowback for years and we've ignored it. Ron Paul has been a wolf in the wilderness arguing about the insanity of our foreign policy and he was lampooned by fellow Republicans. Any dissenting voice when it comes to re-evaluating our foreign policy is either blackballed, censored or slandered by the mainstream press.

[CNN] Anonymous claims responsibility for "ongoing" hacking of Russian government sites
quote:
Some Russian government websites continued to be down on Saturday, as the country's invasion of Ukraine is in its third day.
The websites that are dark notably include the Kremlin and the Ministry of Defence.
The exact reasons for the outages are not immediately clear, but the international hacking group Anonymous has claimed that it is attacking the sites.
"Anonymous has ongoing operations to keep .ru government websites offline, and to push information to the Russian people so they can be free of Putin's state censorship machine," the group said in a tweet.
On Friday, the same Russian websites appeared offline for a while, but the Kremlin denied it was being attacked by Anonymous, according to state media. It’s the third day in a row Russian websites have been inaccessible, at least for some period of time.
Anonymous said it is also working "to keep the Ukrainian people online as best we can."

People in this thread are direct quoting from people on the ground and major heads of state. I haven’t seen too many people quoting any MSM or institutions we rightly don’t trust not to spin. I have seen a lot of balance in this thread where people understand that propaganda is being disseminated from both sides, but for anyone who has paid attention to the situation for longer than five minutes it’s obvious that Putin is wrong/invading a sovereign nation and the Ukrainian people are right to defend their country. I would point you to a great Putin biography, The New Tsar, to understand his background, how he rose to his position, his MOs with respect to his policy decisions, his corruption, his ideologies, etc.
The CIA having dirty hands, Ukraine leadership being involved in corruption, and globalism notwithstanding, the basic fact of the matter is that Putin is trying to rebuild the Russian empire by straight up invading a sovereign nation and is violating a lot of international standards to do so.
