I laugh at this post every time we discuss rain events.

Officials are basically saying the show is over. Backed down the spillway from 100k cf/s to 90k cf/s. Lake has been drained from 901' at the peak flooding to 868ft currently. I guess they are confident the rain and show won't be severe enough for the OH shite response again

Yea we are about to get another 3-5 inches of rain in already saturated ground.

So it's still a non event? Looks to be getting a lot of rain today in cali
Posted on 2/17/17 at 8:35 am to gatorhater08
The rain is heavy in the 6 bay area counties.
Nothing as far north as oroville.
Its a great blessing. This much rain would have overwhelmed the spillway and topped the dam.
Horror film sidestepped and the central farm counties get a good soaking.
My sisters place in marin is in danger though. The hill behind her house is saturated and water is pouring through the retaining wall.

Bump. Looks like it's heating back up with 10+ inches of rain expected. Absolute shite show.

Picture from yesterday after backing down on the outflow a good bit. Can almost see the massive hole in the spillway

Yikes. That's approaching criminal negligence.
WTF, how the hell can you simply proclaim this? Do you actually know any of the facts in the case at all? What a jackass.

I hate the "1000" year excuse. We have been measuring precipitation in North America for about 150 years. We have no idea of what a 1000 year rain event is or is not.
Well, grab you cocks, you'd be blown away with the paucity of data we have to build offshore structures with.

if its really 10+. they may not be able to empty the dam fast enough to avoid over topping. its down about 50 feet from the worst of it. They have about 18 hours more before it starts in earnest.
when it nearly topped, the depth had risen 200 feet in a week.

My old mentor explained to me that when he started designing offshore it was simple stuff. Now the platforms have to be designed for atmospheric reentry.

I guess that is due to snow melt? Scary stuff for sure.

meh, it's just bmy--par for course. He is always looking to blame someone else for failures, whether it be college football losses (the refs), or the Dems loss, or a dam, or just about any other failure in his life.

Not hard to believe when the past water year has pulled most of California out of drought
Posted on 2/19/17 at 4:53 pm to TigerTatorTots
Climate change is a major cause of this - the erratic weather. Also, the government tries to geoengineer our way out of drought conditions and this is exactly what happens.
We have had unprecedented unpredictable weather the last decade and we all know why.
This said, the spillway water going outside what's left of the concrete isn't going to cause the dam to fail.

Lol...Do your research. This is very similar to the climate pattern back in the 30s when the plains/SE states were in above avg. temps/below avg precip...and the west coast was pounded with moisture.
Problem with you "climate change" yahoos, is that you forget to research anything past 50 years ago. The earth goes through ebbs and flows. There WILL be another ice age, but of course the "govt" is causing this all.
Read a fricking book
Posted on 2/19/17 at 5:02 pm to DustyDinkleman
Wow, no need for a personal attack. I read about this far more than most. Geoengineering is a fact and this isn't like the 30's. It is all very sketchy stuff and you cannot dispute this.
Posted on 2/19/17 at 5:04 pm to tigerite
I don't know what is causing climate change and I'll leave that argument to others. But I do know it is mid February and the azaleas are in full bloom and my garden is growing steadily and while working in it yesterday I got a sunburn. It's way too hot and wet for me in South Louisiana.

Dude...Please take a long hard look at the climate data from any period other than 1975-2016
I promise you, you will find similarities. Hell, do you even realize that while yes we have been warmer than most years the last few, that we are still SEVERAL degrees cooler than the ALL TIME warmest on record???
So you're saying the govt started geo-engineering in the 30s, took a break since, and started again in the 2000s?
come the frick on...there is NO concrete proof to geo-engineering and you're basing your claims off of shite you've read...
