You realize Texas doesn’t have the largest, right?

But they do have two of the Fortune Top Ten, since McKesson recently moved HQ there.

Wait a minute, I gotta call bullshite on Alabama-

Alabama Power Company is a wholly owned subsidiary of Southern Company, a gigantic energy conglomerate based in GEORGIA.

But north Louisiana sucks

So glad that lawmakers made sure to run Delta and others away to ensure North Louisiana wasn't corrupted.

Just imagine a Louisiana with Delta in Monroe, DisneyWorld on the North Shore, and the Hayride developing SBC into Nashville. Thank goodness for good ol boys and bible thumpers.

WA has four in the top-30 with a quarter of the population. Not too shabby.

The part that the company is in isn't "redneck".

Business level internet service provider, they don't deal with residential stuff. They won't run service to your house, but they'll run it to your 50 story office building.

They are a big player in telecom.

And I'm guessing not just Louisiana, I see they have offices elsewhere.

Doesnt Paul Allen own Century Link? Or is it ExxonMobil?

Paul Allen used to have a sizeable investment in Charter Communications but lost billions when they filed for bankruptcy. He still owned part of it after but not a controlling interest. Not sure if he sold that before he had passed away.

They're also a cloud provider and provide co-location (where you rent racks, power, and networking but you put your servers and storage in the racks). Nowhere near the level that Amazon, Microsoft, or even IBM is for cloud but they have datacenters across the country.

They merged with Qwest which was a huge telecom company in Colorado several years ago. The Qwest ceo took over and stayed in CO. There were a lot of rumors that the company would be relocating there.
