For me...in no order...

Atlanta
Montgomery
Birmingham (in city limits)
Tallahassee
New Orleans
Baton Rouge
Memphis
Houston
Little Rock
Orlando
Jackson
Charlotte
Columbus (maybe not so large)

The list of cities where I would live is probably shorter.

The US has a bunch of shithole cities.

Jackson, MS
Atlanta, GA
New Orleans, LA

Those three are all no-go and other cities are on a case by case basis.

Birmingham just as big as New Orleans. And Memphis is bigger than both. What qualifies large if not >1m metro pop

I can live in those cities and be happy, assuming I can make a living and have families/friends. Sometimes life is about adjusting to our environments and making the best of it as oppose to bitching/complaining of our situations.

Jacksonville Beach is probably one of the most underrated places in the south.
