Lafourche Parish residents who live between Raceland and Fourchon are asked to conserve water after a water main in the area broke. According to officials with the Lafourche Parish Water District No. 1, the main broke near the district's south water treatment plant. However, no boil water advisories have been put into place as of yet. The affected area includes the communities of Raceland, Des Allemands, Mathews, Gheens, Lockport, Valentine, Larose, Cut Off, Galliano, Golden Meadow, Leeville, and Fourchon.

Fourchon is the only place that really matters if they issue a boil water advisory

That's like 50 miles. This must be the Ron Jeremy of water mains.

Jefferson Parish had a 32 mile 16 inch water line that ran under Barataria Bay from Lafitte. I am not sure if they ever fixed it since it was damaged for Ida and every so often a boat would hit the line. There is a new project to sink the line in mud. The last pipeline was just a polyethylene pipe that floated only 8 to 10 feet below the waterline so it got hit often.

After Ida, Lafourche upgraded their line to Grand Isle, but it is not enough. Back in the 1990’s I can remember when there was an 8 inch line that came from Lafourche parish and during the summer they could not keep up the pressure with residents and visitors to the island. They would even barge water to the island to help keep water going to the island and people would have to wait until midnight to take a shower when pressure would return.

This is for baitn.

Any restaurants that opened in JP during this shouldn’t have. They haven’t even gotten the test back yet. If you are under boil advisory, you can’t operate a fricking restaurant.

Just want to give you guys a heads up for next time. Don’t eat at those places.

This goes for anywhere, but I just know places over there ignored it.

This has nothing to do with Grand Isle

My FIL was the inspector on the installation of the line that runs from the waterplant in Lockport to Fourchon. I believe he said the 1st portion is an 18" line and around Golden Meadow it drops downs to a 12". Joke use to be it was cheaper to fill supply boats with fuel than water in Fourchon.
