The only thing open on Jefferson back then was that costume shop with all the creepy masks outside.

Anyone ever go to Metropolis? I know they had a bunch of good bands play there but I was always too young.

Dr. H has done well for himself. He owns a nice salmon fishing lodge up in Alaska.

You remember the Cruise Thru? It was a drive thru grocery store in what is now Jack Gardiner’s Oil Change on Johnston. The concept was you drive in there, hand them your grocery list, and they would load up your car for you. It wasn’t open for very long.

Back before there was Acadiana Mall, we went to Northgate Mall, like everybody else. There was a radio DJ doing a publicity stunt one time in there, whereby he was going to live 2 weeks in scuba gear underwater in a giant portable aquarium they hauled in there. Can’t remember who that was though..

Stanley has an eye for talent

And an uncanny ability to get waiting patrons seated as quickly and as equitably as possible.

the classic la fonda regular response. For some reason the people that go there like this. Like they're so cool and have to know the exclusive off menu items. The fried chicked ain't that good. The Don Briggs isn't that good either. Considering it's just a ribeye covered in cheese, that should be incredible, it's average. Waiter style just means burnt. The ziggy wings are probably my favorite "off the menu item"

The only thing keeping the place busy is the clientele's need to feel important. It lets them feel special and exclusive.

I think it changed names to "B's Grocery" later. They had some good old plate lunches there.

Maybe not at the location on Johnston, but they were originally on University across from Campus. Just off the corner of Johnston and University. Little small, off the ground building. Nobody could compete with their stereo and music prices.

In 1978 it was the Sting (disco) and then became Cowboys during the Urban Cowboy rage.

It became "JR's" during the "Dallas" time. Cowboys was out just north of I-10 where Ambassador crossed over.

But I believe he was asking about some time in 2001? That part confused me.

That is correct Sold his deer/quail hunting ranch in South Tx and bought the fishing lodge in Alaska several years ago. I see Dr. Heard and Dr. McDonnell once a month for business. Heard owns an MRI machine that he parks in front of his office and runs people through like cattle. I don't agree with his business practice and medical opinions but he definitely knows how to print money.
