Based on a lot of responses from a ton of different posters on DWI threads, I would NEVER take a DWI to a jury trial. There are way too many people out there that think you should spend a year in jail if you got pulled over. I think most if not all attorneys would suggest to their client stay away from jury trials when it relates to DWI’s. Too many MADD nutcases out there

Why is Louisiana cursed with the most idiotic and the most corrupt politicians in the country.

If that is the true BAC where driving is affected then why not push to increase the level to that (but I think fine motor skills can start to be affected at .10), but let’s also add mandatory jail time for drivers with a BAC over .15 including with 1st offense.

Mandatory jail time for everyone over .15 would cripple the jail system. States will NEVER increase it to .10 because DWI’s are cash cows.

There is no true BAC where everyone is affected.

Have a friend that runs my county probation office. She tells me that all the officers want DWI offenders in their groups of people because, normally, they are regular good people that made a dumbass decision. She also goes on to say that DWIers are great for her office and 1 or 2 time offenders are always left alone so they can focus on other offenders. She did say once you get a third (felony), you get on their radar.

Makes sense. This is exactly what an operation driven solely by revenue generation, not safety, would looked like.

Just have to convince 1 out of 6 to not convict as opposed to a judge who has to run for reelection, probably golf’s/hunts/fishes with the DA, and is scared to death to be seen as soft on crime. Jury trial 10/10 times unless it’s egregious but would be advising to plea that out anyway.

We should put all these jury trials on youtube so people can watch online, give likes subscribe. Louisiana gov could make money from that and that could help pay fornthe trials. Also another channel should show prison life for the drunks for post conviction. More revenue for the state.

I have been saying that for years.

It is time to lift the veil of the court room in Louisiana. I think most states now have opened up the court room to cameras even in district court.

Most courts use cameras for security or even remote hearings why not upgrade them to broadcast quality cameras and allow a feed to be live streamed for the public.

You can put limits on what is shown to prohibit views of jurors or minors that take the stand.
