It’s like opposite world over here in Texas.
Their version of the DMV is straight out of the 80s. You even leave with a temporary paper license while you wait 2 weeks for the real one in the mail.

The DMV has been closed in LC since hurricane Laura so we've been using title companies locally. They're so freakin busy it's kind of a PIA to be honest.

Did my renewal in Baton Rouge 2 weeks ago at the Hi-Nabor on Jones Creek. Very nice people, maybe 10mins. Bonus is not having to deal with DMV!

Or go to a third party place and get it done without dealing with state workers or the underclass trying to clear unpaid tickets.

Why do you need proof of insurance for a driver license renewal? You don't have to own a car to have a driver license. Insurance goes with the car right?

I don’t have to renew my driver’s license until 2043 when I turn 65

It’s very nice. I had to renew mine over the summer. No wait and very easy. The lady did however give me some flack about my documents for my real ID. I brought exactly what I needed based off the website. She double checked and it was all good. In and out in about 15 minutes.

I remember when I moved there after Katrina and I went to transfer my license, and they gave me a freaking piece of paper. I was like WTF.
It's still like that??

My son just got his and yes they send you home with a piece of paper, it’ll take 7-10 days to get the actual license in the mail.

There is a title place here in Broussard that does drivers license renewals. By appointment only due to Covid. In and out in 10 minutes and got hit on by a gay guy. All around positive experience

Do those title service places (private owned) actually give you a DL when you walk out the door/ Or do you have to go to DMV to pick up / get it mailed to you?

They just sent a renewed DL to me in the mail, didn't even ask and I didn't pay any fees.

I'm surprised they're still printing/issuing on-site. Other states mail them to you as an added control to ensure you're providing the correct address.

I got a new drivers license from them. There is a place in new Iberia that advertises the same service.
